Baroque Access and Rémy Martin arranged an exclusive evening last week to savor a tasting of the iconic French cognac, Louis XIII de Rémy Martin followed by a gourmet three course sit-down dinner
Let the ritual commence…
When two prestigious companies collaborate to arrange an exclusive night of fine food and the finest cognac, you know you’re in for a treat. Those fortunate enough to be on the guest list for this exclusive event began the evening with a tasting of the superlative Rémy Martin Louis XIII cognac. This was followed by a delectable three-course gourmet dinner.
The event, which was held at a magnificent Triplex penthouse in New York City on March 11th, introduced the selected guests to one of the most spectacular cognacs ever created. The Louis XIII de Rémy Martin is a magnificent blend created from 40 to 100-year-old eaux de vie, using grapes from France’s renowned Grand Champagne region in Cognac. Aged in century-old oak barrels, the cognac is considered one of the best in the world.
This iconic cognac is internationally renowned and carries with it the legend of Louis XIII. It was first created in 1874 and has since been nurtured by four generations of cellar masters who are devoted to producing the finest cognac. Each exquisite Baccarat crystal decanter that holds this iconic cognac has been created as a unique expression of Rémy Martin’s tradition and knowledge, and forms part of an iconic collection.
A tasting of this exclusive cognac is a unique, memorable experience, a journey through 100 years of different aromas that combine to create a unique final product of extreme delicacy and taste. For more than 400 years, Rémy Martin’s cellar masters have worked towards perfecting Louis XIII’s distinct flavor. They have selected, blended and aged the most extraordinary eaux de vies in pursuit of this excellent, timeless treasure. Throughout its long history, this distinctive French cognac has gained a reputation for its excellence and a unique flavor that sets it apart from the rest.
There are a number of unique decanters that have been created for Louis XIII, including the classic one, which is a replica of the original flask discovered on the site where the Battle of Jarnac was fought. Its curved shape and characteristic decorations combine to create a symbol of power and elegance. Of course, each decanter is individually numbered.
The Louis XIII decanter also comes in a magnum size, which was created in 1997, and at the time was the largest decanter in the world. Then there’s the famous Jeroboam, four times the size of the original decanter. This exclusive bottle is released in a very limited quantity every year and is reserved for a privileged few aficianados.
Crystal maker Baccarat also collaborated with Remy Martin to create Louis XIII Black Pearl, a glamorous limited edition decanter that is individually numbered. One of the most exclusive collections of decanters is the Louis XIII – Les Lumières, a modern and contemporary design created by French designer Christophe Pillet that is described as a “Sensorial experience through time and ultimate luxury”. Each of the designer’s creations in the collection is created with special attention to the way they react in the light. Combining Pillet’s exceptional design ethic with this legendary cognac has resulted in a timeless, elegant selection that epitomizes Louis XIII.
In the words of Georges Clot, a former Louis XIII Cellar Master, “When you discover Louis XIII, you become a different man.”
