The event is renowned for being an exclusive launching pad for the work of upcoming filmmakers as well as for accomplished actors and actresses.
Italian-born actress Elisa Sednaoui will host the festival inauguration ceremony on the evening of Wednesday 2nd September on the stage of the Sala Grande (Great Hall) of the Palazzo del Cinema at the Lido. Her latest movie, Soap Opera, by Alessandro Genovesi, opened the Rome Film Festival in 2014. This year Elisa Sednaoui made her debut as a director with the documentary entitle Image of a Woman, which has yet to be released. She also wrote the film’s screenplay with author and screenwriter Nicholas Klein, famous for his scripts of Buena Vista Social Club and Million Dollar Hotel.
