Updates on the Brand New Rolls Royce Cullinan SUV

Rolls Royce will reveal its first ever luxury SUV on 10 May! Baroque Ground has all the details

rolls-royce-cullinan-mule-001.jpg

Rolls-Royce has teased the public about its first-ever SUV, the Cullinan, numerous times before. But finally the British automaker is about to reveal what the world has been waiting for. The vehicle, which will be a worthy rival to the Bentley Bentayga, has been driving around in remote spots for a while now, being tested on hills, sand dunes and frozen ground to see how it will fare. And obviously it fares very well – because it’s being released this coming week, on 10 May 2018!

2018-rolls-royce-cullinan-2.jpg

The new luxury 4X4 takes its name from the Cullinan diamond, the largest flawless diamond ever discovered, which was mined in South Africa in 1905. But despite being dubbed the most luxurious SUV ever, it is still being tested to ensure that it can do what an SUV is supposed to do, which is handle itself well in a variety of terrain.

Numerous photographs have been uncovered, showing the test vehicle being driven or being hitched to a trailer – and one thing that is known from the pictures we’ve seen: Rolls-Royce’s Cullinan has a very distinct shape. The Cullinan has what looks like boxy proportions, and it’s believed that it’s reminiscent of the Rolls-Royce Phantom in some ways. It boasts huge seven-spoke alloy wheels, similar to those seen on the Rolls-Royce Ghost, although it’s quite likely that those who purchase this sumptuous SUV will have a choice of wheel options in various styles and sizes.

Rolls-Royce-Cullinan-Mule-003.jpg

The brand new Rolls-Royce Cullinan will be the first Rolls-Royce vehicle to enter the SUV market segment, and although we think we know what it will look like, it’s very likely that we are in for a major shock when the vehicle is officially launched. With all the specs and details of the SUV being kept secret for so long, there are bound to be some shocks when we actually get to see the real deal.

One of the things we do know about the brand new Cullinan from Rolls-Royce is the ‘Viewing Suite’ – two leather-wrapped seats as well as a cocktail table that fold out from the SUV’s boot compartment. We also have been told that the vehicle is constructed from an aluminium space frame that is called the ‘Architecture of Luxury’. This particular platform was first used in the design of the new Phantom, and will apparently be used standard in all Rolls-Royce vehicles.

Word has it that the Cullinan will have the same 6.75-liter engine as the Rolls-Royce Phantom, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. And the SUV will have an all-wheel drive system, which is a first for Rolls-Royce.

If you would like to find out more information from Baroque Ground ahead of the reveal of the Cullinan on 10 May, or would like to find out details of how to purchase the brand new Cullinan SUV, contact us immediately, request@baroqueground.com.

Vision Mercedes Maybach Ultra Luxury Concept

A highlight at the Beijing Auto Show, which took place from 25 April to 4 May this year, was the brand new concept from Mercedes-Benz, the Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury. Baroque Ground finds out all the details

maybach1.jpg

The new concept vehicle showcased at the Beijing Auto Show, the Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury, is a combination of a luxury sedan and an SUV. Some of the concept vehicle’s key design elements include a distinctive chrome-plated grille that features large air inlets, as well as a horizontal intake with integral chrome blades. In addition, there are 24-inch turbine-lock wheels, truncated running boards and a split rear window.

vision-mercedes-maybach-ultimate-luxury-concept4.jpg

The concept measures 5,260mm in length, 2,100mm wide and 1,764mm tall, making it 140mm longer than the Mercedes-Benz GLS. The interior is trimmed with rose gold, crystal white and pearl grey elements and there is a freestanding 12,3-inch display in the cockpit, similar to Mercedes’ latest production models.

One can also see similarities between the Ultimate Luxury concept and Mercedes’ current S-Class. But one unique standout feature is the ‘magic wood’ tea service, which surfaces at the push of a button.

maybach_ultimate_lux_22.jpg

The Ultimate Luxury Concept features four compact permanent-magnet synchronous motors as well as an 80 kWh battery, offering a fully variable all-wheel drive system. The range is apparently 500km with a top speed of 250km per hour. The battery has an estimated range of 322km on a single charge. Apparently the fast-charging system can recharge the battery up to 97km in just five minutes.

According to Gorden Wagener, Chief Design Officer at Daimler, “The Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury is a totally new archetype of a kind never seen before. Our concept combines the DNA of an SUV with that of a saloon to produce an ultra-modern SUV of three-box design.”

Audi Confirms E-Tron GT All-Electric Sedan for 2020

German automaker Audi recently confirmed plans to create a new all-electric sedan that will be in direct competition to the Tesla Model S. Baroque Ground has all the details

audi-e-tron-gt-prototype-teaser-0008.jpg

Audi’s brand new four-door all-electric model, called the e-tron GT, will apparently share its platform with the Porsche Mission E. This means that the e-tron GT will share the so-called J1 platform of the upcoming Porsche Mission E in a move by the two Volkswagen Group companies to achieve suitable economies of scale.

During Audi’s 2018 annual accounts press conference, Audi chairman Rupert Stadler announced details about the Audi e-tron GT. He confirmed that it was one of three electric models that are currently being developed by the brand, which will go on sale by latest 2020. The three models include the Audi e-tron Quattro SUV, which was unveiled with some disguise at the recent Geneva Motor Show, the e-tron Sportback, which was first revealed as a concept car last year at the 2017 Shanghai Motor Show, and the e-tron GT.

audi electric e-tron.jpg

Audi is establishing a dedicated electric vehicle assembly line at Audi Sport’s Böllinger Höfe industrial park that is located close to Audi’s Neckarsulm plant in the south-western part of the country. The Böllinger Höfe site was built in 2014; it is currently used to produce the Audi R8 coupe and R8 roadster body styles.

According to Stadler, “We interpret sportiness very progressively with our fully electric e-tron GT, and this is how we will take our high-performance brand Audi Sport into the future.” At the press conference he revealed a picture of the new electric-powered Audi model on a video wall.

The image displays a conceptual sketch of the vehicle, which is low-slung, a four-door coupe that features a heavily tapered front end with a long bonnet and slim rectangular headlamps.

The image was later described by Audi Sport on Twitter as a “sneak peek into the electrified future of Audi Sport – the first draft of the prototype Audi e-tron GT”. The tweet also suggested that the vehicle will be at the top of Audi’s line-up, and hoped that it would be the “spearhead of Audi Sport by the year 2020”.

The collaboration between Audi and Porsche is only planned for late 2021. But before then, by 2019 or 2020, the e-tron and Mission E production models will be launched. The Tesla Model S is expected to be just one of Audi’s all-electric rivals. Apparently a new all-electric Jaguar sedan is also being developed.

The e-tron Quattro SUV is expected to cost in the region of $98,400 when sales officially start in Germany later this year. The new Jaguar I-Pace, by comparison, which was revealed at the Geneva Motor Show, comes in at $2,000 cheaper. And the Tesla Model X is priced from around $118,400 in Germany.

According to the Audi Chairman, the e-tron Quattro will be revealed in mid-2018 at the company’s factory in Brussels. Stadler also said that by 2025, Audi would offer around 20 electric models, over half of which would be all-electric vehicles, while the rest would be plug-in and mild hybrids. In addition, Audi plans to build on these initial three dedicated electric models with a fourth, battery-operated, offering that will be a compact SUV.

So there’s plenty to look forward to with Audi’s electric vehicle projects in the future. If you’d like to find out more about the latest, the e-tron GT, let Baroque Ground assist. Mail us right away, request@baroqueground.com, and we will provide you with all the information you require.

Rolls-Royce Limited Edition Wraith Luminary Collection Dazzles

Iconic British automaker Rolls-Royce recently unveiled a new limited edition collection, the Wraith Luminary Collection. Baroque Ground has all the details

2018_rolls_royce_raith_luminary_collection_4k-HD.jpg

Only 55 bespoke Wraith Luminary vehicles are being specially created for the luxury automaker’s new collection by Rolls-Royce’s specialist design team. One of the highlights of these opulent vehicles will be the use of illuminated Tudor oak wood that was specially sourced from the forests of the Czech Republic.

But what really sets these magnificent vehicles apart is the shimmering spectacle in the interior cabin, created by 176 LED lights that permeate through an intricately perforated design in the exclusive wooden veneer, forming a magical pattern on the door panels and ceiling panel that resembles the trailing light of a shooting star.

RR wraith luminary2 copy.jpg

This is certainly the most dramatic feature of the Rolls-Royce Wraith Luminary. Controlling the brightness of the LED lights will be linked to the starlight headliner, adding another 1,340 fiber optic LED lights that glitter overhead like tiny stars. In addition, eight shooting stars fire at random, mainly over the cars’ front seats.

Together, this amounts to 1,692 tiny bulbs inside each of the 55 special edition Wraith Luminary cars.

There are many other exquisite design features in this new collection, including a special, newly developed paint for the exterior entitled Sunburst Grey, as well as a hand-painted Sunburst Motif coachline along the wings of the car, pinstripes applied to the center of each wheel in Saddlery Tan and hand-painted Wake Channel Lines running up to the cars’ bonnets.

Rolls-Royce announced that the small number of bespoke vehicles in the collection were “inspired by those who lead where others follow”. “They will light the way for the luxury trailblazer,” the brand added.

According to Torsten Müller-Ötvös, CEO at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, “This collection is for the world’s luminaries.

“The Wraith Luminary is a stunning Collection Car. It speaks directly of our contemporary Rolls-Royce brand – progressive and trailblazing; the pinnacle in hand-crafted luxury,” he said.

Although a price has not yet been confirmed, one can only estimate. But if one thinks that a ‘standard’ Rolls-Royce Wraith costs more than $350,000, one can just imagine what one of these dazzling gems will cost.

If you would like to find out more about this exceptional new Wraith collection from Rolls-Royce, let Baroque Ground assist. Mail us right away, request@baroqueground.com, and we will give you all the information you require, including the price of a Rolls-Royce Wraith Luminary, when it is announced, and how one can purchase one.

New Special Edition Fleurier Watch from Parmigiani and Bugatti

Bugatti’s fabulous Chiron Sport took center stage at the recent Geneva Motor Show, and to celebrate the launch of the hyper car, the automaker collaborated once again with Swiss luxury watchmakers Parmigiani Fleurier to create a special edition Bugatti Type 390 watch. Baroque Access has all the details

02_BUGATTI_Chiron-Sport_34-front_WEB.jpg

There were many highlights of the 88th Geneva Motor Show this March, and one of them was the magnificent Chiron Sport from Bugatti. To celebrate the launch of this exquisite hyper car, Bugatti collaborated yet again with watchmakers Parmigiani Fleurier to create a special edition Bugatti Type 390 watch. This iconic timepiece was first launched in 2017, but the special edition is something else entirely.

parmigiani-fleurier-bugatti-type390-cover_crop_w1396_h781_1396x781.jpg

The beautiful Chiron Sport on display at the Geneva Motor Show was painted in a very appealing two-tone color scheme of Italian Red and naked grey carbon fiber on the exterior, whilst the interior featured Beluga Black with red highlights. The special edition watch has the same aesthetic features as the car, using the exact same colors.

Bugatti-Type-390-Special-Edition-Geneva-motor-show-2018-cover-thumb-1450x997-36644.jpg

The special edition Bugatti Type 390 has a white gold case with carbon fiber inserts that mirror the Chiron’s shape, giving the watch a streamlined, sporty look. The numerals and the hands featured on the dial are both coated in red luminescent material, a stunning contrast to the black nickel dial. The watchstrap is also red, with contrasting black stitching to match the Chiron Sport’s two-tone color scheme.

Mechanically, the Bugatti Type 390 is identical to the model released in 2017, and it is also powered by the same Caliber PF390. As yet, it is has not been announced when the watch will be available for purchase, or what it will cost. However, as it’s a special edition, one can expect it to cost more than the $297,400 price tag on the original 2017 model. We expect it to cost well over $300,000.

03_BUGATTI_Chiron-Sport_34-rear_WEB.jpg

Although Swiss horologists Parmigiani Fleurier has collaborated with legendary French automakers Bugatti numerous times in the past, the latest special edition timepiece is quite exceptional. Just like the brand new Bugatti Chiron Sport that it celebrates. The newest Bugatti Chiron is the latest version of the track-focused Chiron that debuted last year. At the time, Parmigiani Fleurier created the first commemorative watch to celebrate the vehicle and its aesthetic features, also using the colors of that car.

Mail us right away, request@baroqueaccess.com and we will keep you up to date on the watch’s price and availability as well. BMW’s Latest Luxury Offering

BMW showcased a new interpretation of luxury, the BMW Concept M8 Gran Coupe, at March’s Geneva International Motor Show. Baroque Ground has all the details

11.jpg

The BMW Concept M8 Gran Coupe, showcased at the Geneva International Show in March, brings a new facet of luxury to the brand. The ultra-sporty, extrovert and polarizing new vehicle epitomizes what the 8 Series stands for. And, according to Adrian van Hooydonk, Senior Vice President BMW Group Design, “The BMW 8 Series will take over as the new flagship model of the BMW line-up”.  As such, “the BMW Concept M8 Gran Coupe offers a look ahead to the most exotic and alluring variant of the new BMW 8 Series,” he added.

12.jpg

The Concept M8 Gran Coupe is more than just a four-door luxury sports car; it symbolizes a new and unique understanding of luxury. It’s “designed to stir things up, to polarize – it should move you emotionally,” explains Domagoj Dukec, Vice President Design BMW M and BMW i. “With this car we want to reach people who are looking for something special and who want to stand out from the crowd.”

14.jpg

Like the BMW Concept 8 Series before it, the Concept M8 Gran Coupe shows off the brand’s new design language. This is evident in the new Concept’s front-end. The contours of the radiator grille kidneys broaden as they descend towards the road, emphasizing the car’s low center of gravity. As on early BMW coupes, the kidney elements are linked by an unbroken grille surround, creating a large single element. The headlights are positioned slightly higher than the kidneys and make them look as if they are sitting lower; this further emphasizes the car’s closeness to the asphalt.

13.jpg

In contrast, the gold-colored kidney surround brings an added air of exclusivity to the front end. Within the headlights, the lighting technology familiar from the M8 GTE endurance racer provides a dynamic, hexagonal interpretation of BMW’s signature four-eyed front end, distilling elements of modern-day motor sport and luxurious quality into its inner details. Meanwhile, brawny air intakes in carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) guide the air to where it is required.

Even when viewed from a distance, the car’s proportions radiate its dynamic character. A long wheelbase, long bonnet, flowing roofline and short tail create an elegantly sporty coupe silhouette.

1.jpg

The Salève Vert paint finish, whose color appears to change from green to greyish blue in different lights, creates an extremely effective surface composition and teams up with the gold-colored window graphic, hallmark M gills, gold-colored brakes, wheel rims and M twin exhaust tailpipes to give the car a head-turning, all-new look.

The car’s striking exterior combines the core values of BMW’s M models of elegance and luxury to create a new and captivating form, and reveals a new and exciting facet. This new model is the first of a series to come. The 8 Series Gran Coupe and M8 Gran Coupe will be presented during the course of 2019 and round off the brand’s 8 Series family.

Ferrari 488 Pista Set to Take Geneva by Storm

Geneva Motor Show takes place this year from 8 to 18 March – and one of the highlights is sure to be the brand new Ferrari 488 Pista. Baroque Ground has all the details

1.jpg

Ferrari is going to be the talk of the town in Switzerland at Baselworld 2018, when it unveils its new special series, high performance Ferrari 488 Pista. The new vehicle is the successor to the special V8-engine series 360 Challenge Stradale, the 430 Scuderia and the 458 Scuderia, all of which received much acclaim.

2.jpg

The new Ferrari is said to be sportier and even more high-tech than its predecessors. In fact, its name is a direct tribute to Ferrari’s iconic motorsports performance. The car was developed because of Ferrari’s involvement in the FIA World Endurance Championship, where the brand won five Manufacturer’s titles in the GTE class in the six years that the series has been running. In addition, Ferrari has 25 years’ experience running the Ferrari Challenge.

3.jpg

The Ferrari 488 Pista is much lighter than its predecessors. In addition, the vehicle’s engine, dynamics and aerodynamics all have elements of Ferrari’s past iconic racing cars, the 488 GTE and the 488 Challenge. The result? An energetic vehicle that performs impeccably on and off the track as well as off-road, no matter how experienced the driver. In fact, the dynamics of this super car were designed to enhance driving pleasure, and the result is a super fast car that is easy to control.

4.jpg

Weighing in at 90kg less than the 488 GTB, the 488 Pista has much more engine power and sets the benchmark for Ferrari’s V8 sports cars – not to mention other sports cars in the same category. The engine is, in fact, the most powerful V8 in Ferrari history. Its engine has evolved from the turbo engine that won Ferrari the overall Engine of the Year Award titles in 2016 and 2017.

5.jpg

With a top speed of 340 kilometers per hour, the vehicle sprints from 0 to 100km per hour in 2.85 seconds, and from 0 to 200km per hour in 7.6 seconds. Of course, it roars just like a Ferrari. It’s the best super car yet from the brand.

7.jpg

Visually, the car is a beauty, with a powerful, efficient design. The racing livery color scheme is classy, an integral part of the car’s design, with contrasting edging on the car’s aerodynamic elements on the flanks and the bumpers adding even more panache.

Land Rover’s Brand New SUV

If you fall in love with the brand new Range Rover SUV when it debuts at the Geneva Motor Show in March, you’d better make haste – there are only 999 limited edition vehicles available! Baroque Ground finds out more

range_rover_sv_coupe_56.jpg

We can’t wait for the Geneva Motor Show, which takes place from 8 to 18 March, 2018. You see, Land Rover has a brand new Range Rover luxury SUV for 2019 – and it comes in a limited edition of just 999 vehicles! The much-anticipated vehicle will make its debut at this prestigious automobile show in Switzerland, so if you’re keen to purchase one of the limited edition vehicles, we advise you to be there with your cheque book.

The innovative new Range Rover SV Coupe 2019 was built to honor Land Rover’s 70th anniversary – it boasts two doors to pay homage to the original two-door Range Rover that was launched in 1970. This extraordinarily popular vehicle was produced by Land Rover for 26 years, and was only replaced by a four-door vehicle in the early 1980s.

rangerover interior1.jpg

We feature a few of the photographs that have been taken of the new two-door iteration including its magnificent interior. The configuration is two by two seating (that means only four passengers) at its best. According to Land Rover’s Chief Design Officer, Gerry McGovern, “The Range Rover SV Coupé is a highly compelling design with peerless refinement and uncompromised sophistication, from its breathtaking exterior proportions to its sumptuous, beautifully appointed interior.”

The new model in the Range Rover line-up will officially be revealed two days before the Geneva Motor Show on the brand’s website, on 6 March. With only 999 available and a price tag in the region of $200,000+, the cars are likely to be snapped up fast.

This full-size Range Rover SUV will be quite unique – there are no other coupés in this segment. To add to its exclusivity, each vehicle will be assembled by hand. The British brand is pulling out all the stops to ensure it is as exclusive as possible.

rangerover3.jpg

The interior shot shown here reveals the front seat area, with the contrasting rear section in black. The cabin is opulent, with premium leather upholstery and a full-length center console with quality wood trim. Those passengers sitting in the back seat have their own climate controls.

“Land Rover created the luxury SUV sector with Range Rover almost 50 years ago,” explained the brand’s Special Operations Managing Director, John Edwards. “Unveiling this special vehicle at Geneva International Motor Show in March, during Land Rover’s 70th Anniversary year, will be a defining moment for Land Rover, the Range Rover portfolio and Special Vehicle Operations.”

Jaguar’s First Electric Vehicle Debuts This Year

One of the most exciting launches of 2018 will definitely be Jaguar’s first electric vehicle, the Jaguar I-Pace. Baroque Ground finds out all about this iconic vehicle

jag elec5.jpg

Voted ‘Most Anticipated Car of 2018’ in the What Car 2018 Reader Awards in London recently, the Jaguar I-Pace promises to be an exceptional sports car, combining exquisite styling with sports car performance. The new five-seater was chosen from a shortlist of 12 cars all being launched into the market in 2018, including luxurious models from Audi, Mercedes-Benz and Tesla.

jag elec12.jpg

For their first-ever battery powered electric vehicle, Jaguar has thrown away the rule book. The new I-Pace is smaller than most mid-sized SUVs but manages to provide passengers with more room, and still leave plenty of space for luggage, compared to other SUVs in the same segment.

jag elec24.jpg

According to Jaguar’s Director of Design, Ian Callum, the new I-Pace is “a radical departure for electric vehicles. It’s the product of authentic Jaguar design DNA matched with the most advanced electrification technology and British craftsmanship.”

jag elec18.jpg

The I-Pace joins Jaguar’s ‘Pace’ collection of SUVs, the F-Pace and the E-Pace (and if you remember, the E-Pace won over 70 major international awards and is also the fastest-selling Jaguar ever produced). Like the other ‘Pace’ models, this one is modern and stylish, but unlike other electric vehicles, the I-Pace doesn’t follow the same design rules… it doesn’t boast a long hood. Instead, the hood is short and sloped, and its windshield meets the car body right over the front wheels.

jag elec20.jpg

Originally unveiled in concept form in 2016, the I-Pace features a 90-kWh battery pack in the floor, which delivers power to two Jag-designed electric motors, one for each axle. The price of this all-electric Jaguar is expected to be with a starting price of under $100,000.

jag elec3.jpg

This is literally the first of a line of electric Jaguar vehicles – the British automaker wants to produce 50% of its vehicles as electric vehicles by 2025. With Jaguar’s thrilling performance in an electric vehicle, that’s certainly something to look forward to. In the meantime, we have the I-Pace with its new-generation technology and futuristic design, a car that delivers zero vehicle emissions and a luxury driving experience. Who could ask for more?

If you would like to find out more about Jaguar’s first-ever electric vehicle due to be released this year, let Baroque Ground assist. Mail us right away, request@baroqueground.com, and we will provide you with all the information you require, including when the vehicle will be available in the US, and how to purchase one.

Check Out BMW’s Latest X3 Model!

BMW’s 2018 X3 model is the third generation of this impressive vehicle, and likely to be the most talked-about model yet. Baroque Ground takes a look at the newest X3 to see if it lives up to its reputation

x3 9.jpg

The very first BMW X3 was launched in 2003, and some 15 years later, this German SUV is still a force to be reckoned with. After selling around 1.5 million X3s since the launch of its first one, automaker BMW has created the latest model and it’s extremely impressive.

x3 10.jpg

Let’s face it, the market for mid-sized SUVs is full of contenders, but BMW’s X3 still stands out from the crowd. It’s more powerful and elegant than its predecessors, but maintains that special cachet. It’s a touch above, but still as recognizable, with its versatility and uniqueness. BMW knows a good thing when it sees one, which is why there are X1, X2, X4, X5, X6 and X7 models now as well as the stunning X3. Figures show that this model constitutes 34% of BMW’s sales globally – and it grows daily.

x3 8.jpg

Of course, many other prestigious brands have followed suit, a lot of them with great success. But as the front-runner, BMW has stood its ground. Being released this year, the 2018 BMW X3 is certainly something to write home about. The bestseller in the range is likely to be the 2.0 liter diesel – 20d, which is more expensive than the other 2018 models, at around US$57,400, but for those who want a diesel, well worth every cent.

x3 11.jpg

So what does it look like, this new X3 iteration? Very much like all those that have come before, but under the bonnet, it’s a different scenario. Yes, there’s the 2.0-liter turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine, as powerful as ever. But much of the new X3 has been designed along the lines of the new 5-series. The vehicle is longer by 51 mm, 10 mm wider and around 55 kg lighter. The entire design is smoother and more modern inside and out, with more interior space that is of a higher quality, with touches of wood, leather and alloy trim along the lines of the new 5-series. Yes, everything is high-tech and luxurious, with added touches such as checking the fuel level, changing heat and ventilation and locking the vehicle all done remotely with a smartphone.

x3 13.jpg

Those lucky enough to have driven this new creation say that the driving experience is one of the sportiest on the road, and it’s firm and comfortable. The engine gives a speed of just 8 seconds from 0 to 62 miles. Of course, the panoramic sunroof makes for an exciting ride both off road and on the tar.

If you would like to find out more about the entry-level 20d or the more powerful X3 versions, let Baroque Ground assist. Mail us now for all the information you require, request@baroqueground.com. If you are interested in purchasing one of these fine machines, we can also assist you. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Is This the Most Luxurious SUV Ever Made?

Rolls-Royce is famous for its innovative creations, and its latest incarnation is no exception. This year the British automakers are launching a stunning bespoke SUV. Baroque Ground has all the details

RR 6x6 2.jpg

We love the Rolls-Royce Wraith, right? And now, imagine that it has been given a dose of steroids. What’s the result, you ask? It’s not a coupé this time. It’s a super-luxury SUV called the Cullinan. The brain behind this innovative creation is an Indian automobile designer who specializes in custom-made models of famous vehicles. And his take on the Rolls-Royce Wraith is one amazing vehicle… it’s a six-wheeler for starters, a four-door, three-axle concept car whose enormous wheels get all the attention.

RR 6x6 1.jpg

Due to be launched this year, the Wraith-like SUV is a completely bespoke vehicle, a handcrafted four-seat luxury grand tourer that has a similar chassis to the Rolls-Royce Ghost. Although it’s an SUV, it doesn’t feature all-wheel-drive. In fact, the power in the car is sent to only the four rear wheels.

Let’s face it – this isn’t the first SUV to come out of a luxury car manufacturer in the past few years. At the end of 2017, Italian automaker Lamborghini revealed a new model that combines the performance and style of a sports car with the durability associated with an SUV. And let’s not forget the earlier incarnation from Bentley, the beautiful Bentayga. But this one from Rolls-Royce certainly ups the ante.

RR 6x6 3.jpg

The name of the vehicle, ‘Cullinan’, is from the very famous and equally enormous Cullinan Diamond that boasts almost 3,107 carats. The SUV will be based on Rolls-Royce’s new aluminium-space frame architecture. Its engine is likely to be similar to the twin-turbo 6.6 liter in the Rolls-Royce Ghost, and there’s no doubt that a plug-in hybrid will also be on offer.

Of course, the caliber of person purchasing one of these exquisite SUV’s won’t mind the fact that fuel is going to cost a fortune. The person also won’t be averse to waiting for the 2019 vehicle’s release in late 2018. Or parting with more than the cost of a Rolls-Royce Wraith, which is in the region of $420,000.

If you would like to find out further details about this exceptional new Rolls-Royce creation, or are interested in purchasing one of these luxurious new SUV’s, let Baroque Ground assist. Mail us right away, request@baroqueground.com, and we will assist you in every way possible.

Yes, there were several other categories making up 10 in all in these illustrious awards, but once we saw ‘Car of the Year’ and ‘Best Supercar’, forgive us if we go on and on about this magnificent vehicle. OK, the awards, which are considered extremely prestigious, also recognized a number of other British automakers, including Bentley and Lotus. Bentley’s Continental GT was named evo’s ‘Best GT’ for 2017 and the Lotus Elise Sport 220 received accolades as the ‘Best Sports Car’ for that year.

evo10.jpg

The 10 key categories in these prestigious awards honoured top performance vehicles in several different categories. Road testers judged the cars on their performance on the road as well as their delivery when it comes to offering an excellent driving experience. To win both ‘Car of the Year’ and ‘Sports car of the Year’, the McLaren 720S had to be quite extraordinary. And it is. According to the editor of car magazine evo, Stuart Gallagher, the vehicle “is the product of a manufacturer that hasn’t changed its focus on wanting to build the most exciting, thrilling and best performance cars it can.”

evo4.jpg

Aside from being exceptionally fast, the vehicle offers an extremely smooth ride. As the magazine says, “This is one very special car.” Not only that – British automakers have succeeded time and again in showing their talent, creativity and keeping their tradition when it comes to creating high performance cars.

The magazine certainly knows what it’s talking about. The evo Car of the Year Awards was first launched in 1998 and has now run for 30 consecutive years, naming the very best performance cars from around the world each year.

New Mercedes G-Class Launches 2018

Car fundi’s heading for the Detroit Auto Show mid-January will be in for a treat – the new Mercedes G-Class is one of the many new vehicles on display. And it’s completely different from the G-Class of old. Baroque Ground has all the details

merc g 2.jpg

Sure to be a standout at the Detroit Auto Show in January 2018, the brand new Mercedes G-Class is waiting for attention. And it’s well-deserved attention indeed, as the new iteration is completely different from its legendary predecessors, cars that in their own right took center stage in the almost 40 years that they have been making an impact off road.

merc g interior.jpg

Believe it or not, since 1979, over 300,000 different G-Class vehicles have given their owners a unique driving experience, something unachievable with any other car. But all of that is about to change – for the better. Sure, the 2019 G-Class looks very much like those models that have come before it. Why mess with that? It’s a winning formula, and the car is unlike anything else on the road. Mercedes knew that the only place to make any distinctive changes to an off-road legend was under the hood. Sure, the interior has been updated, and there are many new features. But, compared to the experience you’ll get when you are behind the steering wheel, they are mere window dressing.

Yes, you’ll feel comfortable opening the door of the G-Class with its distinctive door handle, you’ll enjoy hearing that characteristic noise it makes when you close the door. The exposed spare wheel on the rear door is still there, as well as those statement-making indicator lights. The car looks a touch more modern with its geometric shape and round headlamps, but the signature grab handle in front of the passenger seat is still there, as it has been since the original G-Class was created in 1979. You’ll also find the chrome-highlighted switches for the diff locks and air vents in the same position as the original. Those are characteristic features, so why mess with them?

inside-the-redesigned-2019-mercedes-benz-g-class.jpg

Right, let’s get behind the wheel. The driver controls the entire entertainment system on the steering wheel, with touch-sensitive Touch Controls that respond in the same manner as a smartphone does, with swiping movements. You don’t need to lift your eyes off the road to do a thing. Inside, the interior is as classic and identifiable as ever, except for an expansive digital dash that was first seen on the Mercedes S-Class. It comprises two 12.3-inch digital screens, one for the infotainment system (already mentioned) and the other for the instrument cluster.

The 2019 G-Class G500 is powered by a 4.0-liter turbo-charged V8 engine with 400 horsepower and there will also be a G63 version with closer to 600 horsepower.

BMW Reveals the i8 Hybrid

At the beginning of the month, BMW unveiled its i8 hybrid sports car in the Roadster version at the LA Auto Show. Baroque Ground was there

i8 hybrid 1.jpg

The much-anticipated Roadster version of the BMW i8 is finally here, and it boasts more power than its predecessor, as well as in increased range of electric driving, not to mention new additions to its interior. The German automaker revealed the new vehicle and its updated coupe variant at the LA Auto Show at the beginning of December.

i8 hybrid3.jpg

The new hybrid i8 also boasts a lithium-ion battery pack that features an increased 11.6-kilowatt per hour capacity. This bigger battery gives a 12 horsepower hike in power from the electric system, giving it a total output of 141hp and 184 pound-feet of torque. Other battery improvements include a longer all-electric range, meaning that the new i8 is able to travel for up to 18 miles on electric-only mode. This is an increase of 15 miles compared to the i8’s old battery.

So what can be expected from BMW’s new i8 Hybrid? It can go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 4.2 seconds, for starters, and it apparently reaches that speed in just 4.4 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 155 miles per hour.

i8 hybrid5.jpg

The new Roadster also features a fabric top that apparently opens in a mere 15 seconds at speeds of up to 31 miles per hour. The new iteration is also not much heavier than its predecessor, because it has been made from carbon fiber-enforced plastic and aluminum. The i8 with a drop top is just 132 pounds heavier than the coupe, which weighs 3,513 pounds.

BMW calls its new i8 “an entirely new concept of sports car”. It’s more efficient than its predecessor, because of its intelligent lightweight construction and more sustainable with BMW’s extremely efficient eDrive technology and its recyclable materials used in creating the interior.

i8 hybrid6.jpg

This plug-in hybrid offers drivers the advantages of innovative electric motor and combustion engine technologies and creates an extraordinary driving experience with low consumption and low emissions.

When you first look at the vehicle, it resembles a sports car. It’s extremely low and wide when viewed from the front and features a flat silhouette with powerfully formed surfaces and precise lines. Your second look will reveal the design that has resulted in a sustainable, efficient car that is both dynamic and sporty. Combining an electric motor with a powerful petrol engine has given the world a sports car that is one of the most innovative of all time.

BMW’s i8 Roadster and coupe will both be available in Spring 2018. Pricing has not yet been announced.

Lamborghini’s 2019 Supercar – Urus

Baroque Ground introduces the Urus, a new super car from Italian automakers Lamborghini, which combines the performance of a sports car with the sturdiness and durability of an SUV

urus8.jpg

Lamborghini is serious about getting back into the SUV market, if its latest vehicle, the Urus, revealed in early December, is anything to go by. It’s the sort of sports car you can take dune driving, or show off on the road in the city. It also boasts a new engine, a 4.0 liter twin-turbo V8, that will offer improved fuel economy, is lightweight and provides low-end torque – 650 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque to be exact –  which is the best weight-to-power ratio of any SUV currently on the market, making it the fastest SUV available. Reaching from 0 to 62mph in 3.6 seconds, 0 to 124mph in 12.8 seconds and a top speed of 190mph, it’s certainly showing its mettle.

urus9.jpg

What’s more, there is a plug-in hybrid version, as well. This iteration will only arrive in about a year, but it’s something to look forward to.

The new Urus is not only very fast; at less than $200,000, it’s not badly priced, either. And there won’t be that many Lamborghini Urus cars on the road initially. Only 1,000 units will be built at the automaker’s Sant’Agata Bolognese factory in 2018, and 3,500 are expected to be built the following year and every year thereafter. That is a lot of cars for Lamborghini, which usually only manufacturers around 3,500 of all its cars in any given year.

The name ‘Urus’ is a breed of Italian bull, a different breed of bull from Lamborghini’s usual models. Initially revealed in 2012 at the Beijing Auto Show, the car is now ready to hit the road. If you would like to find out more about this exceptional vehicle, let Baroque Ground assist. Mail us right away, request@baroqueground.com and we will provide you with all the information you require, including how to purchase one of these Lamborghini stars come 2018.

Celebrate 2018 with the New Aston Martin Vantage

The latest Aston Martin Vantage model has just been revealed, with a bold new look. Baroque Ground takes a look

With a whole suite of integrated electronic systems for maximum control and driver enjoyment, the new entry level Aston Martin Vantage is something to behold. With a price tag of around $163,000, the new iteration is expected to hit the streets in spring 2018.

British luxury automakers Aston Martin have created Vantage models for more than 70 years, and they describe their latest iteration as the ultimate in both style and power. The Vantage’s boasts a new alloy 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine and, for optimal center of gravity, the vehicle has been set low and as far back as possible in the chassis and features a perfect ratio of 50:50 in weight distribution.

The vehicle produces 510bhp, and can accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 3.5 seconds, with a maximum speed of 195mph. The integrated electronic systems include dynamic stability control and dynamic torque vectoring.

A first for the Aston Martin Vantage range is the electronic rear differential that is linked to the car’s electronic stability control system, so that it knows the car’s behavior and can react accordingly to direct the power of the engine to the relevant wheel.

Yes, the Vantage is good looking. In typical Aston Martin Vantage style, it has a predatory stance, and new head and taillights give it unmistakable road presence. Its muscular flanks show just how agile and dynamic it is, and the overall appearance is of a car that has a strong and individual identity.

Inside the car is more spacious and has more headroom compared to previous iterations. The transmission buttons have been moved to a triangular formation and a highlight is the digital dashboard and media screens, with its 8-inch LCD screen.

Standard with the Vantage is keyless start and stop, a tire pressure monitoring system, parking distance display, park assist and front and rear parking sensors. It’s Entertainment system is controlled and viewed via the centrally mounted LCD screen and features the Aston Martin Audio System, Bluetooth audio and phone streaming. There’s also iPod, iPhone and USB playback and an integrated sat nav system.

If you’re planning on purchasing a new Aston Martin Vantage, you can order one now, but be aware - deliveries won't begin until the second quarter of 2018.

Second Generation All-Electric Roadster from Tesla

Meet the new Tesla roadster, touted to be the quickest production car in the world. Baroque Ground gives you all the details about founder Elon Musk’s latest creation

tesla10.jpg

Elon Musk’s second-generation all-electric Roadster is no copycat. It’s a whole new beast from the one that took the world by storm in 2008. The beautiful four-seater is, according to Musk, going to be the quickest production car ever. Competing with the likes of Porsche and Ferrari is no mean feat, but the new Tesla Roadster is ready to take them on, and if the figures being bandied about are anything to go by, this is one serious vehicle.

tesla8.jpg

Elon Musk’s latest creation apparently can go from 0 to 60mph in 1.9 seconds. If that is proved correct, then we’re talking about the fastest production vehicle ever made, the first of its kind to break the 2-second mark. Word has it that the Tesla Roadster Generation 2 can reach 100mph from 0 in just 4.2 seconds.

tesla5.jpg

At its reveal recently in LA, which came at the same time as the announcement of Tesla’s new semi-truck, Musk intimated that the speed of this new beast is “above 250mph”. That’s one fast car. He also said that the Roadster featured a 200kWh battery pack and a 620-mile range per each charge, which is more than 1,000km per charge in kilometers. Not bad at all. Musk equated that to traveling from LA to San Francisco without recharging.

tesla13.jpg

The exciting second-generation Roadster features three engines, one in the front and two at the back, as well as torque steering and all-wheel drive. The new super car has borrowed numerous features from other sports cars, including the McLaren P1 cockpit, headlights like the Bugatti Chiron, an exterior that resembles the Acura NSX, roof like a Targa and a rear that reminds us of an Aston Martin DB10.

tesla9.jpg

Musk admitted to taking on gasoline cars head-on. “Driving any other turbo-charged sports car is going to feel like a steam engine with a side of quiche,” he quipped.

So when will this super car go into production? Sadly, not until 2020. However, those who are impatient can reserve one right away by handing over $50,000 deposit on the vehicle, which is expected to cost in the region of $200,000 for a base model. If you’re a supreme Tesla fan, you can get one of the first 1,000 Founders Series models of the Tesla Roadster, priced at quarter of a million dollars. But you have to pay for it now.

If you are interested in finding out more information about the innovative new Tesla Roadster, or would like to find out about purchasing either the limited edition Founders Series or the slightly cheaper base model, let Baroque Ground assist. $2.7 Million German Hyper Car

German automaker Gumpert Sportwagenmanufaktur has designed hyper cars before, but this new iteration is even more impressive than their iconic Gumpert Apollo. Baroque Ground finds out more

apollo2.jpg

More impressive than its predecessor, the Gumpert Apollo, the brand new 2018 Apollo Intensa Emozione Hyper car is a force to be reckoned with in the automotive industry. The Apollo Intensa Emoziona, whose name means ‘Intense Emotion’ in English, features a 6.3 liter naturally aspirated V12 engine. But it’s the US$2.7 million price tag that has tongues wagging.

apollo12.jpg

Let’s take a look at the specs of this magnificent machine… 9,000 rpm, with peak power at 8,500 rpm, the vehicle churns out 769 horsepower and 561 pound-feet of torque. This is quite a feat when you consider that the new Apollo Intensa Emozione weighs a mere 2,756 pounds! The reason the car is so light is that Gumpert Sportwagenmanufaktur used a carbon fiber chassis and body for their hyper car, which was built in Italy by Manifattura Automobil Torina. In fact, the entire chassis, including the front and rear sub frames and the monocoque, weigh just 105kg in all (that’s just over 231 pounds).

2018-apollo-intensa-emozione.jpg

In addition, Apollo decided not to go the electric route; instead, the car boasts a sequential six-speed manual gearbox that shifts fast and furiously.

All of these factors have resulted in a vehicle that can accelerate from zero to 60 miles per hour in 2.7 seconds, with a top speed of 208 miles per hour. According to Norman Choi, Apollo’s CEO, “We felt that all the technological advancement and automation in today’s supercars took away the pure, raw emotional connection between driver and car.

apollo9.jpg

“We wanted to build a car that would fill that void separating car and driver. So we built the Apollo IE.”

Apparently, the manufacturers will only produce 10 bespoke examples of their Intensa Emozione. No wonder the price is so high.

If you are interested in purchasing one of these rare hyper cars, or would like more information about them, let Baroque Ground Assist. Mail us now, request@baroqueground.com and we will find out everything you wish to know about the new Apollo Intesa Emozione hyper car, including how to purchase your very own bespoke model.

Range Rover’s Latest is a Hybrid

Jaguar Range Rover has announced its next creation – the 2019 Range Rover P400e plug-in hybrid (PHEV). Baroque Ground investigates

RRhybrid5.jpg

In what will be the first of a new breed of cars, Jaguar Land Rover announced the 2018 Range Rover P400e plug-in hybrid. This iteration features a 296-horsepower, 2.0-liter turbo-charged four cylinder gasoline engine that is paired with a 114-horsepower, 85kW electric motor, offering a total output of 398 horsepower and 474 pound-feet of torque.

RRhybrid3.jpg

Land Rover estimates that the Range Rover PHEV can travel for up to 31 miles on a fully charged battery, which is extremely competitive compared to other plug-in hybrid vehicles from BMW and Volvo. Included with the vehicle is a 7kW onboard charger, although, unlike the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, this one will not have DC fast charging, making the Mitsubishi the only plug-in hybrid with that feature.

RRhybrid6.jpg

Drivers have two driving modes, which gives them control over whether to use the gasoline engine or the electric motor. The vehicle features a Predictive Energy Optimization that uses GPS altitude information when the driver maps a route on the navigation system. According to Land Rover, this determines when to put the car into electric mode for greater efficiency and to conserve fuel.

RRhybrid2.jpg

Of course, the vehicle is not only about saving energy. According to Land Rover, it boasts excellent off-road capabilities. There’s a Terrain Response system that is designed to take advantage of the torque available from the hybrid system. This makes the plug-in version as capable as the standard one.

Adding this PHEV variant to the Range Rover mix is just one of many new changes to the 2018 Range Rover line-up. In addition, most of the vehicles have been a little revised when it comes to styling and also boast upgraded technology features, such as seats that can be folded using a smartphone app.

RRhybrid7.jpg

The 2018 Range Rovers in gasoline or diesel will be available at the end of 2017, and the PHEV models are expected to reach US dealerships by spring next year.

If you are interested in finding out more about these exceptional hybrid vehicles, let Baroque Ground assist. New from Porsche – Carrera T 911

German sports car legend Porsche has just introduced the latest to its long line of 911 models, the Porsche 911 Carrera T, which comes complete with a manual gearbox. Baroque Ground finds out all about it

2018-porsche-911-carrera-t-3photos-and-info-news-car-and-driver-photo-693909-s-original.jpg

When it comes to performance cars, a manual transmission is a wonderful thing, despite being somewhat rare in the world of super cars these days. Porsche has decided to change all that with its new Special Edition Touring 911, in an effort to protect what is becoming a rare breed. The new Porsche 911 Carrera T was inspired by the legendary 911 T manufactured in 1968. But to modernize it, Porsche even included some of the features of the new 911 GT3 Touring pack.

2018-2Porsche-911-Carrera-T-rear.jpg

Interestingly enough, the 911 Carrera T is the lightest 911 available in the market today. The super car is powered by a twin-turbo 3.0 flat-six, the same as the one used in the base Carrera model. It produces 370 horsepower and 339 pound-feet of torque.

The most noteworthy news comes in the shape of the car’s seven-speed manual transmission. This manual-equipped version achieves 0-60mph in just 4.3 seconds, which is 0.1 seconds faster than the standard 911 Carrera. Meanwhile a PDK dual-clutch automatic is also available for an extra cost.

porsche carrera T 2018.jpg

Visually, the new Carrera T has slight differences to its counterparts. Many of its performance-enhancing features are not usually included in the 911 Carrera, but this one has them – Porsche’s aim is to provide owners with a more visceral driving experience. The new Carrera T boasts a new front lip, 20-inch Carrera S wheels that have a finish in titanium grey and side mirrors that are agate grey. On the side stripes one finds Carrera T branding and there’s a 911 Carrera T bade on the lid of the rear deck.

2018-Porsche-911-Carrera-T-rear-three-quarter.jpg

If you are interested in ordering this exceptional new Porsche Carrera model, which is priced at around $103,000, you can do so. Deliveries internationally, including in the US, start in March 2018.
