Range Rover’s latest is a hybrid

Jaguar Range Rover has announced its next creation – the 2019 Range Rover P400e plug-in hybrid (PHEV). Baroque Ground investigates

RRhybrid5.jpg

In what will be the first of a new breed of cars, Jaguar Land Rover announced the 2018 Range Rover P400e plug-in hybrid. This iteration features a 296-horsepower, 2.0-liter turbo-charged four cylinder gasoline engine that is paired with a 114-horsepower, 85kW electric motor, offering a total output of 398 horsepower and 474 pound-feet of torque.

RRhybrid3.jpg

Land Rover estimates that the Range Rover PHEV can travel for up to 31 miles on a fully charged battery, which is extremely competitive compared to other plug-in hybrid vehicles from BMW and Volvo. Included with the vehicle is a 7kW onboard charger, although, unlike the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, this one will not have DC fast charging, making the Mitsubishi the only plug-in hybrid with that feature.

RRhybrid6.jpg

Drivers have two driving modes, which gives them control over whether to use the gasoline engine or the electric motor. The vehicle features a Predictive Energy Optimization that uses GPS altitude information when the driver maps a route on the navigation system. According to Land Rover, this determines when to put the car into electric mode for greater efficiency and to conserve fuel.

RRhybrid2.jpg

Of course, the vehicle is not only about saving energy. According to Land Rover, it boasts excellent off-road capabilities. There’s a Terrain Response system that is designed to take advantage of the torque available from the hybrid system. This makes the plug-in version as capable as the standard one.

Adding this PHEV variant to the Range Rover mix is just one of many new changes to the 2018 Range Rover line-up. In addition, most of the vehicles have been a little revised when it comes to styling and also boast upgraded technology features, such as seats that can be folded using a smartphone app.

RRhybrid7.jpg

The 2018 Range Rovers in gasoline or diesel will be available at the end of 2017, and the PHEV models are expected to reach US dealerships by spring next year.

New from Porsche – Carrera T 911

German sports car legend Porsche has just introduced the latest to its long line of 911 models, the Porsche 911 Carrera T, which comes complete with a manual gearbox. Baroque Ground finds out all about it

2018-porsche-911-carrera-t-3photos-and-info-news-car-and-driver-photo-693909-s-original.jpg

When it comes to performance cars, a manual transmission is a wonderful thing, despite being somewhat rare in the world of super cars these days. Porsche has decided to change all that with its new Special Edition Touring 911, in an effort to protect what is becoming a rare breed. The new Porsche 911 Carrera T was inspired by the legendary 911 T manufactured in 1968. But to modernize it, Porsche even included some of the features of the new 911 GT3 Touring pack.

2018-2Porsche-911-Carrera-T-rear.jpg

Interestingly enough, the 911 Carrera T is the lightest 911 available in the market today. The super car is powered by a twin-turbo 3.0 flat-six, the same as the one used in the base Carrera model. It produces 370 horsepower and 339 pound-feet of torque.

The most noteworthy news comes in the shape of the car’s seven-speed manual transmission. This manual-equipped version achieves 0-60mph in just 4.3 seconds, which is 0.1 seconds faster than the standard 911 Carrera. Meanwhile a PDK dual-clutch automatic is also available for an extra cost.

porsche carrera T 2018.jpg

Visually, the new Carrera T has slight differences to its counterparts. Many of its performance-enhancing features are not usually included in the 911 Carrera, but this one has them – Porsche’s aim is to provide owners with a more visceral driving experience. The new Carrera T boasts a new front lip, 20-inch Carrera S wheels that have a finish in titanium grey and side mirrors that are agate grey. On the side stripes one finds Carrera T branding and there’s a 911 Carrera T bade on the lid of the rear deck.

New Lotus Elise Cup 260 Sports Car

To celebrate British automakers Lotus’ 70th anniversary, they have created a limited edition racing car that is said to be the most accomplished model in the brand’s history. Baroque Ground finds out all the details

previous lotus iteration the 250.jpg

Only 30 Lotus Elise Cup 260 vehicles were manufactured, using a combination of some of the latest car design philosophies from some of Lotus’ high-performance models. Inspiration for these one-of-a-kind vehicles are Lotus’s Exige Cup 380 and its legendary Evora GT430, as well as the competition-only Elise Race 250 which was created exclusively for use on the track.

lotus elise.jpg

To celebrate Lotus’ successes in motor sport, the new Elise Cup 260 Sports vehicles feature a laurel wreath decal on their left buttresses and the Union Jack is located on both the rear wing end plates. In addition, new owners of these limited edition Lotus cars will be given the option of finishing the vehicle in iconic Championship Gold to commemorate the brand’s 70th anniversary. This color is available across the whole Lotus range through the Lotus Exclusive programme, from November 2017 onwards.

The new Lotus Elise Cup 260 is not only the lightest Lotus ever built; it also includes nearly all of the lightweight Elise Cup options as standard, including sill covers, the roll hoop cover, front access panel and the engine cover, all of which are created in carbon.

2017-Lotus-Elise-Cup-260-06.jpg

According to CEO of Group Lotus, Jean-Marc Gales, “Our philosophy for producing extraordinary vehicles is world famous, but the new Elise Cup 260 goes beyond what many believed possible from our smallest car.

“It is directly developed from the Elise race cars that are competing in series around the world, giving the ultimate Elise experience on the road. More power, motorsport components and the introduction of aerodynamics unheard of in its class make driving this Elise an unrivalled experience.”

2017-Lotus-Elise-Cup-260-02.jpg

The car commemorates the forthcoming 70th anniversary of when the first car was built by founder Colin Chapman in 1948. Clive Chapman, son of founder Colin Chapman and Director of Classic Team Lotus, stated: “Each and every one of the sports cars produced by Group Lotus today carries the true spirit of Lotus, laid down by my father nearly 70 years ago. I am extremely proud that his legacy and achievements are being acknowledged and celebrated in this iconic version of the Elise.”

Summing up the new Lotus, CEO Jean-Marc Gales said, “With just 30 examples to be built, there’s no doubt that the Elise Cup 260 is a future classic.”

Two bespoke McLaren MSO super cars – for the same customer

British carmaker McLaren has just completed two exquisite, highly customized models of its MSO super car – the MSO R Coupé and MSO R Spider – for a single customer. Baroque Ground finds out more

mclaren5.jpg

McLaren Special Operations, which is the bespoke division of the British automaker, was commissioned by a customer to create two very customized MSO cars. The results? A stunning MSO R Coupé and MSO R Spider, both of which are the latest in a long line of specially commissioned McLaren cars that are always a complete collaboration of the owner and the car maker’s special division regarding the specifics.

mclaren4.jpg

According to Jolyon Nash, Executive Director of Global Sales and Marketing at McLaren Automotive, “An MSO Personal Commission is the highest level of partnership between a customer and McLaren Special Operations. It is undertaken to design, develop and create unique interpretations of McLaren cars, expertly tailored to meet the exact requirements of the owner.

“The result is a McLaren personalised by MSO to become a car that is literally one of a kind – or in the case of these stunning MSO R cars, one of a matched pair.”

mclaren1.jpg

These latest customized McLarens share the same specifications both on the outside and on the inside as well as when it comes to the mechanics. They are finished in a very understated yet attention-grabbing Liquid Silver color. The MSO R Coupé is finished with a satin finish, whilst the MSO R Spider boasts a gloss finish. Both feature a central stripe made from carbon fiber.

Both automobiles also have the same design when it comes to the twin-element rear wing and feature front dive planes to enhance the cars’ aerodynamic performance even further.

Inside, the cars are even more striking than their exteriors. Both cars have cabins with Alcantara trim material, mostly black with some striking red stitching. This is reversed on the seats – they are red with black stitching and boast a black MSO R logo embroidered on each headrest.

mclaren2.jpg

The steering wheel is made of carbon fiber on the upper and lower parts. There are black Alcantara grips and a Delta Red stripe in the center. The switches are made in gloss black, whilst the vent mechanisms have a satin black finish, and the bezels are made from carbon fiber.

All of these personalized features are evident in the engines of both cars, which have been blueprinted. The machine heads and exhaust ports are hand-polished, which assists in giving maximum power to the M838TL twin-turbocharged McLaren V8 engines.

Apparently, McLaren Special Operations is currently seeing an increasing number of customers enquiring about bespoke and one-off cars.

Mercedes unveils all-electric EQ concept car

New from Mercedes-Benz and a first for the luxury automaker – the all-new, all-electric EQ concept vehicle. Baroque Ground finds out all about it

merc EQ3.jpg

If you were unable to get to the Frankfurt Motor Show, which took place from 14 to 24 September 2017, you have missed out on German automaker Mercedes-Benz’s big reveal: the brand’s first-ever all-electric EQ concept vehicle. Definitely a highlight of this important annual motoring show, the concept car has a choice of two powerful electric motors, a brand new design named ‘Sensual Purity’ and high-tech elements that include laser fiber headlights and inductive charging.

merc EQ13.jpg

The name ‘EQ’ stands for ‘Electric Intelligence’; it’s derived from the Mercedes-Benz brand values of ‘Emotion and Intelligence’. The new brand covers all key aspects for electric mobility and extends beyond the vehicle itself, encompassing a comprehensive electric mobility ecosystem of products, services, technologies and innovations. The EQ Concept car is the brand’s first EQ model.

The dynamic EQ Concept vehicle resembles a sporty SUV coupé. It boasts two electric motors as well as permanent all-wheel drive capabilities, guaranteeing a dynamic high-level performance. According to Mercedes-Benz, the two extraordinary electric motors revealed recently in Frankfurt can reach an incredible total output of more than 200kW, which is almost twice the output of other vehicles in the same range, such as the new Nissan Leaf. This is apparently the result of scalable battery components. The new electric motors take around five seconds to go from 0 to 62 miles per hour.

merc EQ20.jpg

Gordon Wagener, Chief Design Officer at Daimler AG, of which Mercedes-Benz is a part, says that these concept vehicles are a reinterpretation of the brand’s design philosophy of Sensual Purity. The result? “Progressive Luxury for our EQ brand.”

“Concept EQ is hot and cool,” he says. “Our aim was to create an avant-garde, contemporary and distinctive electro-look. At the same time, the design of the visionary show car, which has been reduced to the essentials, reveals an alluring progressivity.”

merc EQ28.jpg

The vehicle’s interior is just as exceptional as the stunning exterior. The cockpit is driver-oriented with simple, touch-based controls. The instrument panel is assymetrical with a large, floating wide-screen display. Throughout, the interior is luxurious and contemporary and extremely user-friendly. The steering wheel has touch controls and the automatic climate control and infotainment system also operate the same way.

merc EQ23.jpg

According to Daimler AG CEO and Head of Mercedes-Benz, Dr Dieter Zetsche, “By 2022 Mercedes will have launched more than 10 all-electric vehicles on the market. And the Mercedes-Benz Concept EQA proves that we are serious about introducing electric mobility throughout the portfolio.”

Mercedes has stated that this new electric vehicle can manage around 249 miles on one single charge via a wallbox plug, which is a fast-charging station for the home, or via induction like wireless charging on the latest smartphones.

A dream come true from Mercedes

Mercedes has just revealed the Maybach 6: a luxury convertible that is dreams are made of. Baroque Ground has all the details

merc maybach 4.jpg

Revealed for the first time this month, the Mercedes Maybach 6 Cabriolet made its premiere at Monterey Car week from 15 to 20 August. Mercedes then revealed the concept vehicle at the prestigious Pebble Beach Concours D’Elegance in California this past Sunday.

merc maybach 3.jpg

With its Art Deco-inspired design, the Mercedes-Maybach 6 Cabriolet concept car is a magnificent beast. Last year at the very same Concours D’Elegance event, the automaker showcased the Mercedes Maybach 6 Coupe, a hard-top that was quite similar to its new Maybach iteration, in that it was long and powerful. But this year’s updated model is even more appealing, offering the opportunity to drive along with the top down.

The convertible Maybach is a force to be reckoned with, a vehicle that is the epitomy of luxury. Despite its length (almost 20 feet), it’s a two-seater that is almost 7 feet wide, accommodating only two people, thus upping the ante when it comes to sheer luxe. Its sleek, futuristic design is another major draw card. The convertible also boasts huge 24-inch wheels.

merc maybach 8.jpg

But the biggest advantage of this brand new model is the fact that it’s an electric vehicle, with a total output of 550 kW (that’s 750 horsepower) from four electric motors – this means that the car can drive for approximately 500km on a single charge! The 737 hp allows for an acceleration of 0 to 100km per hour in less than four seconds, and the car’s top speed is limited to 250km per hour, which is approximately 155 miles per hour. A flat battery positioned under the vehicle’s floor gives it a range of 200 miles on a single charge. Mercedes says the car’s advanced fast charging system can provide up to 60 miles of range in just five minutes of charging. As the car batteries are in the floor, this provides storage space under the hood for luggage and tools.

The car’s wooden interior and crystal white leather will take your breath away. Inspired by the interior of a luxury super yacht, particularly in the rear end, it epitomizes automotive haute couture at its best. Of course, the blue exterior of the car (it’s finished with Nautical Blue Metallic paint), and its tapering tail is also very yacht-like in appearance.

merc maybach 7.jpg

Drivers will enjoy sitting behind an instrument cluster that features classic round gauges with working needles. There’s a navigation system that is linked to touchscreen displays, and an intelligent concierge system uses voice commands to provide the driver with information based on location and the time of day.

Sadly, it’s still not known whether this exquisite cabriolet will make it to production, but some of its design cues might end up on future Maybach vehicles. But we’ll continue to be ever-hopeful, waiting for pricing and a release date.

merc maybach 11.jpg

Mercedes Maybach is Mercedes – Benz’s ultra luxury brand, and it produces vehicles that are even more luxurious and exclusive than those Mercedes models upon which they are based.

Bentley inspired by a luxury yacht

British firms Bentley and Princess Yachts have collaborated to create a bespoke Continental GT Convertible that is inspired by yacht design. Baroque Ground finds out all about it

It’s the interior of this exclusive Bentley convertible that takes inspiration from yacht design, thanks to yacht experts Princess Yachts. This, the ultimate edition of the Continental GT Convertible, which is only available in a limited edition of 30 cars, is in ocean hues of Glacier White and lower bright ware in Sequin Blue outside, but the clean, confident lines and materials on the interior are materials used in yachts. Called The Galene Edition by Mulliner, which is Bentley’s bespoke commissioning division, the vehicle combines the very best elements of a luxury ocean lifestyle and a plush convertible motorcar.

The Bentley Galene edition of the Continental GT Convertible is powered by the automaker’s refined 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that churns out 500 horsepower. It boasts the brand’s elegant four-layered retractable hood that keeps passengers in the same comfortable environment as the hardtop Continental GT coupe.

Its plush interior pays homage to the classic opulence, quality hand-crafted materials and exquisite details that are signatures of both Bentley vehicles and luxury super yachts. Seats are covered in Linen and Portland hides with Camel hand cross-stitching, the doors are in Linen, Portland and Brunel and the center console, dashboard and armrests are in Linen, Brunel and Camel. The steering wheel is Linen and Brunel with a Camel stripe at 12 o’ clock and the headrest boasts detailed embroidery in Camel. The car’s signature is its fascia panels in the interior that can be hand painted with a unique Jaume Vilardelli illustration of a luxury yacht located next to the Mulliner logo. The renowned Spanish illustrator’s drawing is also featured on the clock bezel.

The Galene edition has a specially bespoke material finish, called Pinstripe Walnut that creates an authentic, natural finish in the center stack and console. This is echoed in the illuminated tread plates and lines the floor of the boot.

This new Bentley iteration takes the relationship with luxury cars and super yachts one step further. Although not the first time that boats and cars have inspired each other, the new Galene edition is in its own class. The car has been named after the Greek goddess Galene, goddess of calm seas. Throughout the exquisite design one finds plenty of inspiration from luxury yachting, from the color of the car itself to its 21-inch Propellor alloy wheels. The result is the epitome of maritime opulence and exquisite material details.

The most powerful Lotus ever

British sports car manufacturer Lotus has just unveiled its most powerful road model ever, the Lotus Evora GT430 – and there is a limited edition of just 60 of these beautiful vehicles. Baroque Ground finds out all about them

lotus 3.jpg

First there was the Lotus Evora 400, followed by the equally successful and more powerful Evora Sport 410. And now British automaker Lotus has released their most powerful Evora ever, the limited edition Evora GT430. There are only 60 such sports cars being made, and they are touted to be the most innovative ever.

lotus 10.jpg

Combining elegance with power as only Lotus can, the new edition Evora has been meticulously manufactured, with special hand-crafted carbon fiber components and a level of precision engineering and design that is unmatched by the company. The ‘GT’ attached to its name pays tribute to the legendary Lotus Esprit V8 GT and the Esprit GT3 that were produced to much acclaim in the 1990s.

This magnificent two-seater sports vehicle is powered by a new iteration of the 3.5-liter V6 supercharged and charge-cooled engine, combined with a six-speed manual gearbox and a lightweight single-mass flywheel for swifter gear changes. Tests have shown that it produces 430hp, setting the car apart from all of its competitors in the current market. It goes from 0 to 60mph in a mere 3.7 seconds, and its top speed is 190mph (that’s 305km per hour).

lotus 4.jpg

Lotus is renowned for its lightweight engineering and this new sports vehicle is no exception, with a weight of just 1,258kg. The advanced aerodynamics used to create this extraordinary car includes exposed carbon weave sections in the body’s front and rear, generating up to 250kg of down force. In addition, there’s a carbon splitter, rear diffuser and huge rear wing, as well as air blades and louvers above the front wheels. The rear wheels have aero ducts behind them, which reduces pressure.

In addition, exposed-weave carbon is displayed across the body of the car, in the bumpers and the roof, rear wing and one-piece carbon tailgate. There’s more carbon inside, with lightweight carbon racing seats trimmed in red and black, and door sills as well as the instrument panel are also made using exposed carbon fiber. To make the car as luxurious as possible, the rest of the interior cabin is trimmed in the new owner’s choice of leather, Alcantara, or both.

According to CEO of Group Lotus, Jean-Marc Gales, the new Evora is “a landmark car for Lotus”, a legend in its own right. Only 60 vehicles will be hand-built in Norfolk, England and will be available to select markets around the world. As the Evora is already popular as a limited edition model, the new iteration is expected to be a collector’s dream.

If you would like to find out more about this exceptional vehicle, or are interested in being one of the lucky 60 people in the world to own one, let Baroque Ground assist. Contact us right away, info@baroqueground.com, and we will provide you with everything you require.

In the lap of luxury – Audi A8

New on the road is the latest in luxury driving, the brand new Audi A8, a high tech vehicle that not only offers the plushest driving experience, but can also drive itself. Baroque Ground finds out all the details

The brand new Audi A8 is German motoring precision at its best and most luxurious. Recently unveiled, the car offers every imaginable high-tech feature, including a magnificent infotainment system, fully active electric suspension and a mild hybrid engine. But the highlight of this brand new offering is the fact that the Audi A8 is the first production vehicle in the world with Level 3 autonomy – yes, it’s one of the most highly automated cars on the road. Due to be available for purchase in 2018, the car is also the first to include self-drive software, which means it can literally drive on its own, a giant step forward in advanced driving technology.

OK, so it’s not going to race along when it’s driving by itself. Apparently the new Audi A8 will drive itself at a dignified 60 km per hour. As Audi explains, this means that the A8 has an autonomous feature; it can take control of driving in slow-moving traffic at up to 60km per hour. To do this, the driver activates a button on the center console to enable the vehicle to take over acceleration, braking, steering and starting from a dead stop. This is achieved through a combination of LIDAR, radar, a front-facing camera and ultrasonic sensors.

This mode, which Audi calls the ‘traffic jam pilot’, only works on highways where there is a physical barrier between the vehicle and oncoming traffic. Using this mode is also subject to the laws of the road in a particular jurisdiction where the car is being driven.

This puts Audi in the lead, ahead of Mercedes-Benz, Tesla and Cadillac when it comes to self-driving. However, Audi is rolling out its semi-autonomous Autopilot system very slowly. For the moment, it’s encouraging drivers to test out the Audi A8’s new self-parking feature while standing outside of the vehicle. This is do-able through a smartphone app – drivers can literally summon or park their car while watching a live display on their phone using the A8’s 360-degree camera. This self-parking feature does not use sensors, showing just how advanced Audi’s technology really is.

Another unique feature of the A8 is its 48-volt active, electro-mechanical suspension platform, whereby it can raise or lower each wheel separately with electric actuators depending on the driving situation. This can assist in avoiding collisions. On a lighter note, the new infotainment system features multiple touch screens and can be operated by voice control.

Of course, there’s more. The A8 also features all-wheel steering as well as rear seats that even offer a foot massage. This exceptional vehicle will be available in 2018, but if you would like more information on it, let Baroque Ground assist. Contact us right away, info@baroqueground.com, and we will provide you with all the details you require, as well as information on how to purchase this exceptional new vehicle.

The all-electric Aston Martin

Feast your eyes on your dream vehicle – the luxury all-electric Aston Martin RapidE, which was developed as a concept car in 2015 and will be available to purchase next year. Baroque Ground has all the details

Finally, Aston Martin has confirmed the production of its first-ever all-electric model, less than two years after unveiling it as a concept car. The all-electric Rapid E will be produced in 2019, bringing a new era to this exceptional super car brand. Initially, Aston Martin will only produce 155 electric vehicles. This is the automakers first all-electric model and is the start of the brand’s foray into producing low- and zero-emission vehicles.

British vehicle manufacturers Aston Martin, which has been in existence for just over a century, is one of the world’s most famousluxury sports car brands. It initially worked together with UK-based Williams Advanced Engineering on the original RapidE concept car. They will also assist the automaker with the complex task of integrating engineering in these new vehicles. The newest addition to Aston Martin’s stable will be a four-door sports vehicle that features the looks and dynamics created by the brand’s Rapide S models. The new eco cars will be powered by an all-electric powertrain that will replace the Rapide S’s six-liter V12 engine. As a result, the RapidE will offer those lucky enough to purchase one of the 155 limited edition models a unique driving experience, one never before experienced by anyone who has had the fortune to own and/or drive an Aston Martin.

The RapidE concept was unveiled originally in October 2015, and the brand is very proud to have reached a new milestone in its history with confirmation of production of these all-electric cars come 2019. According to President and CEO of Aston Martin, Dr Andy Palmer, “RapidE represents a sustainable future in which Aston Martin’s values of seductive style and supreme performance don’t merely co-exist alongside a new zero-emission powertrain, but are enhanced by it.”

He explains how the internal combustion engine has been the core of the brand for over 100 years and believes this will continue into the future. Although radically different from its predecessors, the new RapidE will deliver a new breed of car “that stays true to our ethos and delights our customers.”

New drop-top Spider for McLaren

British automaker McLaren launched its drop-top version of the Spider at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this past weekend. Baroque Ground has all the details

The new 2018 drop-top sider variant of McLaren’s entry-level 570S mid-engine supercar revealed at the Goodwood Festival of Speed represents the third model in the brand’s entry level Sport series collection, which already includes the 540C, 570GT and the 570S Coupe.

The retractable drop-top is electrically operated, with a two-part folding mechanism that is similar to the one fitted on both the McLaren 650S and the 675LT Spiders. Opening and closing takes just 15 seconds in all, and can be operated even when the vehicle is moving if the speed is only up to 25mph.

Of course, the new model’s jaw-dropping features don’t stop there. Other specs for this new variant include a 562hp, 3.8-liter twin turbo V8 engine that literally races from 0 to 60mph in 3.1 seconds. You’ve heard these numbers before; they are identical to the coupe version. But the top speeds are different. This new drop-top model has a top speed of 204mph, but this slows down to 196mph when the top is down. It features a quick-shifting 7-speed gearbox that is rear wheel driven, and is loaded with McLaren’s high-tech performance wizardry in the form of a selection of driving modes and an excellent traction management system. Both of these features are identical to those in the Coupe.

Like all its supercar counterparts, the new Spider features an extremely strong MonoCell II carbon fiber passenger compartment and fully adjustable suspension. According to McLaren Automotive CEO, Mike Flewitt, “"The McLaren 570S Spider is a convertible without compromise. Its mid-engined layout and carbon fiber MonoCell II chassis guarantee the same thrilling dynamic performance and exceptional driver involvement enjoyed in a 570S coupe, but with the added attraction of roof-down motoring."

All 400 launch edition models will be priced from $208,000, making them the most affordable Mclaren vehicles ever made. They are currently available for order and will be delivered to customers in August.

Bentley on Demand

Bentley owners never have to drive anything else again, with the British automaker’s brand new luxury concierge service, Bentley on Demand. Baroque Ground finds out more

bentley concierge 8.jpg

If you are one of the privileged few who own an iconic luxury Bentley, you can now drive around the world in style even when you leave your exclusive British vehicle at home. Luxury automaker Bentley has just announced a new service, Bentley on Demand, which is exclusively available to owners of a beautiful Bentley vehicle. While they are traveling they don’t need to hire a car to travel in; now they can have a specific Bentley model of their choice delivered to them wherever they travel and use this for the duration of their trip.

They don’t need to request the very same model they have in their garage at home either; instead, if they would like to test-drive another model, or want a different vehicle for a special occasion, they can experience what it’s like to drive another Bentley while they’re away. Not only does this enable them to avoid renting a vehicle while they’re traveling, but it is a great way for them to try out newer or different models.

This innovative service is accessed through the Bentley Network app, which members of this exclusive club can download from the Apple App store for iOS devices. Once they have validated their account, they can select the Bentley of their choice from an extensive fleet of luxury Bentley models, and the car will be delivered to their destination in time for them to use on arrival.

Initially this unique service will be only available in the US this summer, in New York, Los Angeles and Dallas. Other cities will be added to the list as the system is streamlined.

Let’s take a look at what vehicles are on offer. For instance, if you’re traveling on an adventure with the family, you may want to use a Bentayga SUV. If you’re interested in speed, the Mulsanne Speed could be your choice. The service is completely bespoke, and the door-to-door service ensures that Bentley owners are never without a luxury car at their disposal.

This is not the first time that Bentley has come up with an innovative idea for owners of its luxury cars. Six months ago, the British automaker completed a successful trial collaborating with ‘Filld’, a fuel-delivery service accessed through a mobile app that offered Bentley owners the luxury of never having to search for a fuel stop or fuel station.

So how does Bentley on Demand work? Once the driver has requested a vehicle for delivery, they will receive confirmation. Then, an hour before delivery of the vehicle, they will receive a reminder of the reservation. They will also be notified when the car arrives at its destination. This way, drivers are assured of a seamless delivery service. When the owner takes delivery of the vehicle, the concierge will give a demonstration of all the vehicle’s features. The same concierge will collect the vehicle on completion of the reservation.

If you would like to find out more about this unique service for Bentley owners, let Baroque Ground assist. Contact us right away, info@baroqueground.com, and we will give you all the information you require so that you can have your Bentley on Demand next time you travel.

There is only one of these vehicles in the world. And it really is quite spectacular. It’s the Rolls-Royce Dawn Mayfair Edition, which will be housed in the window of luxury auto dealership HR Owen’s flagship store in Berkley Square in London. The dealership, one of the country’s leading luxury motor dealers offering sought-after vehicles such as Rolls-Royce, Bugatti, Aston Martin, Bentley, Ferrari, Maserati and Lamborghini, commissioned the vehicle to celebrate its 85th anniversary.

And what a choice of vehicle this is.

The vehicle also features a once-off color scheme called Berwick Bronze, which adds a special sense of occasion. Copper also features on the audio speakers inside the car, as well as on the seat bullets – and did we mention that the color of the seats is pristine Arctic White?

Mercedes S-Class 2018 makes its debut

In April, Mercedes-Benz showcased its latest iteration of its top-of-the-line S-Class, at Auto Shanghai. Baroque Ground finds out what sets this model apart from its predecessors

Auto Shanghai was full of stunning new car models, but one that stood out from the crowd was the 2018 model of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, which offers an entire range of new, innovative technological features. Many of these features were evident when Mercedes’ E-Class debuted in 2016, but the S-Class has some new innovations all its own. These include Distronic Active Proximity Control, which, when set by the driver, uses GPS information to slow the car down for corners, circles, junctions, etc.

merc S 2018 2.jpg

The new S-Class boasts a 3.0-liter in-line six-cylinder diesel engine, instead of the V6 in previous models. There’s also a nine-speed automatic transmission with AMG’s Speedshift technology. The diesel version is said to be the most powerful diesel Mercedes model ever built. This large, comfortable sedan is a popular choice for those who are into German precision combined with the latest technology.

Since the S-Class was first introduced in 2013, this luxury sedan has proved extremely popular. The 2018 model is expected to be just as sought-after, if not more so, with its new styling, revised interior, new features and driver-assist technology. An example of this is the car’s innovative driver’s wellness system, which adjusts the ambience of the car, as well as the massaging program of the seats, the interior temperature of the vehicle, plus ventilation and lighting to promote health and wellness while driving.

merc S 8.jpg

The exterior of the new S-Class features new headlights and taillights, whilst AMG models boast a new design for the front bumper to differentiate them from both the standard and the Maybach models. Talking of Maybach – the Mercedes Maybach S-Class features a new Maybach logo for the front grille. The new S-Class also features a choice of two new 20-inch wheel types.

The interior is equally new and exciting and features a pair of 12.3-inch screens in the dashboard. There’s also a new three-spoke steering wheel with touch-sensitive controls. The car’s Burmester sound system has also been upgraded.

Another excellent feature is the enhanced camera and radar system that works together with navigation information to assist the driver in driving the car in the best way possible. This includes Active Distance Assist Distronic, Active Steering Assist, Active Emergency Stop Assist, Active Lane Change Assist and Active Speed Limit Assist. Safety features include Pre-Safe Impulse Side, which inflates the seat bolsters if imminent side impact is detected so that the driver can be moved in case of an accident.

Upholstery choices added to the mix include Silk Beige/Deep Sea Blue, Magma Grey/Espresso Brown and Mahogany/Silk Beige. As yet, full specs and prices for the S-Class are not available, but are expected to be communicated before the cars’ launch later this year.

The most beautiful car in the world

It’s official. Jaguar’s F-PACE SUV has just been voted the most beautiful car in the world, winning the prestigious World Car of the Year and World Car Design of the Year titles at the 2017 World Car Awards. Baroque Ground finds out all about it

Not one title at the 2017 World Car Awards, but two. That’s Jaguar’s F-PACE SUV, the brand’s fastest selling global model, which has just scooped two prestigious prizes at the Awards – World Car of the Year and World Car Design of the Year for 2017.

That’s no mean feat for any car, but we have to say, we’re not surprised. Jaguar’s first-ever SUV is quite an exceptional automobile. Aside from being the fastest selling model ever produced in the Jaguar stable, the car is only the second to ever claim the historic double win in the World Car Awards’ 13-year history. And when you consider that 75 influential motoring journalists from 24 different countries were the judges, you’ll understand just how tough the competition is.

This exceptional SUV from Jaguar was designed and engineered as a performance SUV. It boasts exceptional dynamics, bold design and is created to be driven on a daily basis. The awards show the talent and exceptional work ethic of the Jaguar team, who have managed to produce the most practical sports car in the world.

These two prestigious awards is the first success for Jaguar ever at the World Car Awards. In 2016, the brand’s XE sports saloon was a finalist for the World Car Design of the Year title.

Far larger and more acclaimed carmakers had to take a back seat this year, as Jaguar took all the honors. This year, the exceptional Jaguar F-PACE triumphed over competitors such as the Audi Q5 and the Volkswagen Tiguan to claim the 2017 World Car of the Year title. When it comes to the second award, 2017 World Car Design of the Year, Jaguar’s stunning SUV received the award despite competition such as the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet and the Toyota C-HR.  Despite it being Jaguar’s first-ever SUV, the F-PACE is quintessentially a Jaguar, and this, along with the brand’s innovation in a new sector of the auto market, is the reason that the vehicle has won such acclaim.

Of course, the F-PACE was a success story from the start. Jaguar’s first performance SUV not only attracted new customers to the brand, but it also became the fastest selling vehicle in the stable. The F-PACE offers a number of engine options, from the efficient, innovative four-cylinder 2.0-liter Ingenium diesel all the way up to the high-performance 380PS, supercharged V6 petrol model.

The F-PACE is one of three completely new product lines produced by Jaguar in the last year and has certainly contributed significantly to Jaguar becoming the fastest-growing car brand in Europe.

Rolls-Royce collaborates with rock legends for limited edition Wraiths

British auto manufacturer Rolls-Royce recently announced a series of nine remarkable Wraith vehicles inspired by British Music. Baroque Ground has all the details

The series of nine exquisite Rolls-Royce Wraith cars ‘Inspired by Music’ have been created in collaboration with some of Britain’s most loved rock and vocal artists to celebrate their legacy. Each car is a one-of-a-kind creation that is a collaboration between the artist and auto-maker Rolls-Royce’s master craftsmen. For these cars, bespoke designer Matthew Danton, under the leadership of Design Director Giles Taylor worked with each artist to capture their work’s most iconic and personal elements. The result is a true collector’s piece with the artist’s name is engraved on the door treadplates and on the base of the Spirit of Ectasy adorning the bonnet of the Wraith.

The first four Rolls-Royce Wraith vehicles were unveiled this month in London. They include a Wraith dedicated to Sir Ray Davies of The Kinks, two Rolls-Royce Wraiths created by Roger Daltrey, CBE, frontman of the band The Who, and one created by Giles Martin, son of producer and songwriter Sir George Martin.

rr rock 4.jpg

Roger Daltrey, CBE, lead singer and frontman of the band The Who, committed to creating two Wraith Rolls-Royce cars for the project. The first one is inspired by Daltrey’s own personal music legacy and includes the band’s famous ‘bullseye’ logo on the dashboard clock and stitched into the leather ‘waterfall’ between the two back seats. The headrests are embroidered with Daltrey’s signature and one of the musician’s most memorable experiences is depicted in unique embroidery– it shows Keith Moon’s drum kit, which exploded at the end of the band’s 1967 performance on American TV show Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour.

The second Wraith car for The Who includes a collaboration with artist Mike McInnerney, who famously created the band’s 1969 album, Tommy. The rock opera’s iconic sleeve design has been immortalized on the bonnet of the vehicle, whilst other elements of the album’s artwork is found all over the Wraith. This unique collector’s item will be sold to help raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust, for which Daltrey is a patron.

The third vehicle is a tribute to band The Kinks, created by Sir Ray Davies in collaboration with Rolls-Royce. Sir Ray selected lyrics from two songs from the band’s 1969 album Arthur (Or the Decline and Fall of the British Empire) to adorn part of the car, and Sir Ray’s handwriting was digitized and is engraved on the vehicle as well.

Songwriter and producer Giles Martin created a tribute Wraith in honor of his father, Sir George Martin, who was nicknamed ‘The Fifth Beatle’ by Sir Paul McCartney, as he was responsible for writing 30 number-one hit singles for the famous band, including the much-loved song, Yesterday.

Forthcoming collaborations to be released this year include one created by Dame Shirley Bassey to bring to life some of her memories from over 60 years in the music industry, another to celebrate the band the Status Quo, created by Francis Rossi OBE, lead singer and lead guitarist of that band, and the last created in collaboration with Rolls-Royce by Rolling Stones member Ronnie Wood to celebrate his solo career.

This inspiring project has taken more than a year and a half to reach fruition. If you are interested in finding out more about the upcoming auction to be held later in 2017 when all of the Rolls-Royce Wraiths will be available for purchase, let Baroque Ground assist. Contact us right away, info@baroqueground.com and we will find out all the information you require.

Aston Martin’s Valkyrie Hybrid Hypercar

New in the Aston Martin stable, the Valkyrie Hybrid Hyper car is one of the most exciting new vehicles to be developed in recent years. Baroque Ground offers some insight into this innovative offering

Word has it that the Aston Martin Valkyrie is so amazing, it will be hard for the brand to ever beat it. One of the most exciting car launches in recent years, and particularly for Aston Martin itself, this innovative new vehicle boasts aeroydynamics developed by Red Bull and a V12 Hybrid powertrain. That’s a level of performance that is likely to be unbeatable. But Aston Martin’s CEO, Andy Palmer, is not giving anything away.

He admits that one would need “a revolution in materials technology or engine dynanimcs before you could go further” than this 1,000-horsepower vehicle that is basically a racing car developed to drive on the road.

Created by F1 designer Adrian Newey, the car, according to Palmer, is the culmination of Newey’s Formula One expertise, which, he says, “is already the pinnacle of automotive technology”. And, according to Palmer, Newey is “putting all of it into the Valkyrie”.

Although the vehicle does incorporate Formula One technology, it does not have an F1 engine. The 150 examples of the Valkyrie that are set to be built are already in high demand. According to Palmer, Aston Martin has had more than 600 requests for the car already. But he believes that by having a limited edition of just 150, the car will remain prestigious and exclusive. Even with a price tag of $5 million each, the Aston Martin Valkyrie is still extremely sought-after.

The ground-breaking hypercar, the result of a collaboration between the British luxury brand and an expert F1TM, is a force to be reckoned with in the hyper car field. It’s an ambitious, uncompromising and extremely extraordinary collaboration that has resulted in two world-leading brands creating a vehicle that is not only unprecedented, but completely unique.

The Valkyrie continues Aston Martin’s tradition of creating cars with names starting with a ‘V’. First was the Vantage in 1951, which signified an increase in performance and desirability. The name was reserved for the brand’s most powerful models, but it was only in 2005 that the Vantage became a model line in its own right. Now, in 2017, the Vantage remains the most successful vehicle to have been created by Aston Martin.

The British manufacturer has created other vehicles named with a ‘V’, including the Virage, the Vanquish and the Aston Martin Vulcan and now they are bringing out the Valkyrie, which takes the brand to an entirely new level.

According to Aston Martin’s Chief Creative Officer, Marek Reichman, this new model is the ultimate expression of “hypercar design, engineering and performance”. He says: “The Aston Martin Valkyrie is an incredibly special car that demands an equally remarkable name; an uncompromising car that leaves nothing in reserve. The connotations of power and honour, of being chosen by the Gods are so evocative, and so pertinent to a car that only a fortunate few will ever experience.”

If you would like to find out more about this very unique hyper car, let Baroque Ground assist. Contact us immediately, info@baroqueground.com and we will find out all the information you require.

Bentley brings luxury to the electric auto market

One of the biggest surprises at the 2017 Geneva International Motor Show last week was from British auto maker Bentley, who revealed their first-ever electric concept vehicle, a luxurious dream come true for the energy conscious. Baroque Ground reports

If all goes according to plan, British auto manufacturer Bentley will roll out its first-ever collection of electric vehicles in 2021. And to give us an idea of what this concept car will look like, they revealed the EXP 12 Speed 6e Concept convertible at the Geneva Motor Show during its first week. This is the brand’s first pure-electric concept vehicle for production, a completely different project from the hybrid Bentayga SUV that is in the works and is due out next year. But this new concept convertible, if it is well received by the experts, could reach the production line in four years’ time.

The vehicle that is currently on display is not for sale or for people to test drive, as it is one-of-a-kind. It is purely an indication from Bentley that it is an example of what an electric vehicle would look like if they decide to produce it: luxurious, refined and energy-conscious, all in one package. A luxurious, all-electric sports car that can drive for 310 miles on one tank. A zero emissions chargeable model to gauge customer interest.

The design of this two-seater car is a genius combination of modern and classic – with an edge. In some cases, contemporary touches are disguised as vintage ones, like the round cameras that are used instead of side mirrors, which resemble old stealth-aircraft fuselages. Adjusting settings of the air vents on the front dash is done manually – a tongue-in-cheek nod to days of yore, whilst the rest of the dashboard buttons are used via an ultra-modern touch screen. There’s also a state-of-the-art high-definition OLED screen controlling navigation, entertainment and climate control.

Of course, this Bentley, like every other in the brand’s collection, boasts an interior full of fine leather, wood and carpeting. At the unveiling in Geneva, Bentley Motors Chairman and Chief Executive Wolfgang Dürheimer had this to say: “The EXP 12 Speed 6e is a concept to show that Bentley is defining electric motoring in the luxury sector, with the appropriate technology, high quality materials and refinement levels you’d expect from a true Bentley.”

At this stage, Bentley isn’t telling us the range, size or capabilities of the car’s motor, but it’s guaranteed to be high-caliber like every vehicle that comes from this legendary British auto maker. Regarding the electric capabilities of the car – according to Bentley, this will include both rapid inductive charging for which does not involve a cable, and an AC power supply (through a special outlet in the back, hidden under the license plate).

The vehicle on display in Geneva was a convertible without a top, but if it goes into production, it will feature a ragtop, just like all the other Bentley convertibles. As this is a concept car, some of the features have been exaggerated and will not be included if the car should go to production. Regardless, the idea alone is enough to get one’s adrenaline spiking.

Bentley’s concept car highlights the importance famous luxury and sporting auto brands is placing on electric power. Contact us right away, info@baroqueground.com and we will find out everything you need to know about Bentley’s concept vehicle, and will keep you up to date regarding whether it goes into production or not.
