The SUV with the Mark of Tomorrow: The New Kind of Bentley

Decades’ worth of iconic designs and impressive feats of automotive engineering merge together in Bentley’s enigmatic new luxury SUV, scheduled for production in 2016. Draped with an aura of mystique, few details have emerged about the SUV’s specifications – but the details disclosed thus far are at once revealing and fascinating.

Spy shots of this sophisticated SUV have thrown some light on the design of its chassis, which is vaguely reminiscent of Bentley’s own Mulsanne. Bentley first unveiled the SUV’s concept in 2012 at the Geneva auto show, but it met with less enthusiasm than expected. Critics wailed about the SUV’s supposedly blocky design, and the decision was made at Bentley to alter the concept for the car’s exterior. Now Bentley has been teasing the motoring public with the refined designs of the updated Bentley SUV. It will have sleeker lines and a lower, more aerodynamic roofline. Fitted with a large but stylish grille and a two-part headlight configuration, the Bentley SUV will also have a prominent nose design.

This sportier design for the glittering luxury SUV is bound to turn heads – and turn everyday drives through the city into wheel-gripping escapades of exhilarating adventure. Indeed, Bentley’s forthcoming SUV is in a league of its own precisely because its architecture and engineering will be focused on more than just aesthetic appeal. For Bentley, the SUV’s performance will be a top priority, and perhaps nothing reflects this more than their intention to design the car with an uppermost speed of 200 mph.

The SUV will thus provide an unmatched driving experience full of motoring delight. Hurtling through streets and highways and cities and towns, the driver of Bentley’s new SUV will also be charmed by the car’s opulent and handsome interiors. Polished wooden surfaces hug the car’s dashboard and doorframes, creating an atmosphere of suave comfort. Leather lines the car’s interior, too, of course – and as a final graceful touch, the SUV’s will be equipped with a cooling system that will keep beverages and drinks at an optimal temperature, so savoring a refreshingly cool drink after a long day’s drive might become a staple of drivers and passengers of Bentley’s upcoming SUV.

There is some talk that the Bentley SUV will be diesel powered. This would not be surprising, given the emphasis on speed, and some suspect that a 4.2 litre V8 diesel engine will be deployed in this new SUV. Bentley has an eye to the future, too: it’s planning to design the SUV such that it can accommodate plug-in hybrid technology, starting in 2017.

Reports suggest that the Bentley SUV will be priced at around $225,000, or £140,000. Created from lightweight aluminum, and débuting at the 2015 Frankfurt Auto Show, this Bentley SUV is sure to enthrall the automotive world with its gleaming exterior, classy interior, and breathtaking speed. And considering Bentley’s well-known attention to detail, it is no wonder that Martin Winterkorn, Chairman of the Board of Volkswagen Group, deemed Bentley’s new SUV something “powerful, exclusive and successful.”
