To mark its 50th anniversary, Mercedes-AMG, the German luxury auto brand’s high performance division, is bringing out three special edition models including the limited edition AMG GT C Roadster Edition 50, all of which will be revealed at the Geneva International Motor Show. Baroque Ground checks it out
Mercedes Benz and AMG have been collaborating for half a century and in honor of this long partnership and to celebrate what they call “50 Years of Driving Performance”, they have created a brand new model, the 2018 Mercedes-AMG GT C Coupe that was revealed at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show in January 2017. The new addition to the AMG GT line-up is very similar to the AMG GT C Roadster that debuted two months ago at the LA Auto Show.
Positioned between the AMG GT S and the AMG GT R, the AMG GT C Roadster Edition 50 is a special model in matt Graphite Gray Magno with black chrome trim and wheels. The interior features silver and black leather with quilted upholstery and a micro-suede steering wheel. The Edition 50 is to be offered in a limited edition of just 500 vehicles. The car’s performance specs will be the same as the standard version of the car, with a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine offering 550 horsepower and 502 lb-ft of torque.
All the 2018 models in the AMG GT collection feature the distinctive AMG Panamericana grille, which boasts 15 chrome-plated vertical bars that are the same as the new Mercedes-AMG GT3 customer sport racing car. The limited edition Roadster is similar to the AMG GT R, with a broad rear end and active rear axle steering.
Of course, the limited edition car will also include a number of special features, such as a the striking matt paint finish on the exterior and the AMG Interior Night Package as well as a special ‘Edition 50’ badge.
No pricing for this special edition has been revealed yet, but it’s likely to be revealed at the Geneva International Motor Show, taking place from 9 to 19 March 2017.
