Aston Martin’s Valkyrie Hybrid Hypercar

New in the Aston Martin stable, the Valkyrie Hybrid Hyper car is one of the most exciting new vehicles to be developed in recent years. Baroque Ground offers some insight into this innovative offering

Word has it that the Aston Martin Valkyrie is so amazing, it will be hard for the brand to ever beat it. One of the most exciting car launches in recent years, and particularly for Aston Martin itself, this innovative new vehicle boasts aeroydynamics developed by Red Bull and a V12 Hybrid powertrain. That’s a level of performance that is likely to be unbeatable. But Aston Martin’s CEO, Andy Palmer, is not giving anything away.

He admits that one would need “a revolution in materials technology or engine dynanimcs before you could go further” than this 1,000-horsepower vehicle that is basically a racing car developed to drive on the road.

Created by F1 designer Adrian Newey, the car, according to Palmer, is the culmination of Newey’s Formula One expertise, which, he says, “is already the pinnacle of automotive technology”. And, according to Palmer, Newey is “putting all of it into the Valkyrie”.

Although the vehicle does incorporate Formula One technology, it does not have an F1 engine. The 150 examples of the Valkyrie that are set to be built are already in high demand. According to Palmer, Aston Martin has had more than 600 requests for the car already. But he believes that by having a limited edition of just 150, the car will remain prestigious and exclusive. Even with a price tag of $5 million each, the Aston Martin Valkyrie is still extremely sought-after.

The ground-breaking hypercar, the result of a collaboration between the British luxury brand and an expert F1TM, is a force to be reckoned with in the hyper car field. It’s an ambitious, uncompromising and extremely extraordinary collaboration that has resulted in two world-leading brands creating a vehicle that is not only unprecedented, but completely unique.

The Valkyrie continues Aston Martin’s tradition of creating cars with names starting with a ‘V’. First was the Vantage in 1951, which signified an increase in performance and desirability. The name was reserved for the brand’s most powerful models, but it was only in 2005 that the Vantage became a model line in its own right. Now, in 2017, the Vantage remains the most successful vehicle to have been created by Aston Martin.

The British manufacturer has created other vehicles named with a ‘V’, including the Virage, the Vanquish and the Aston Martin Vulcan and now they are bringing out the Valkyrie, which takes the brand to an entirely new level.

According to Aston Martin’s Chief Creative Officer, Marek Reichman, this new model is the ultimate expression of “hypercar design, engineering and performance”. He says: “The Aston Martin Valkyrie is an incredibly special car that demands an equally remarkable name; an uncompromising car that leaves nothing in reserve. The connotations of power and honour, of being chosen by the Gods are so evocative, and so pertinent to a car that only a fortunate few will ever experience.”
