Rare handicrafts from horologists Jaeger Le Coultre

Swiss luxury watchmaker Jaeger-LeCoultre has just created a series of new limited edition men’s timepieces that have been inspired to reflect the craftsmanship of the company’s Rare Crafts Atelier.

These exclusive models, called Métiers Rares (‘rare handicrafts’), which aim to preserve rare handicrafts as their name implies, include a limited edition 39mm Master Grande Tradition à Répétition Minutes timepiece, which showcases a miniature painting on its dial that evokes the famous Van Gogh artwork called ‘Starry Night’. Highlights and features of this particular exclusive, limited edition men’s watch include a Calibre 942 automatic movement with a minute repeater and two patented trebuchet hammers that strike sharply against a crystal gong. The movement is made up of 437 parts with a 40-hour power reserve. The 39mm watch is issued in a limited series of only 18 pieces in rose gold.

The second watch in this exclusive range is the 43mm Master Grand Tourbillion Enamel, which, as the name suggests, comes with a paillonné enamel dial that has gold specks decorating the deep blue backdrop. These tiny sparkles are cutouts of silver and yellow gold leaf, and the watch is made up of 302 parts and a Calibre 978 automatic movement. The 43mm model, which is created from white gold, also boasts an ultra-light titanium tourbillon and a 45-hour power reserve.

The third and final piece in the collection is the Master Grande Tradition à Quantième Perpétuel 8 Jours SQ. This exceptional 42mm timepiece combines three different decorative techniques – the art of engraving, skeleton-working and enamelling. The watch displays the date, the day of the week, the month, the complete year in four digits and the age of the moon. It also features an impressive 8-day power reserve and a hand-wound Calibre 8765Q.

This luxurious watch brand was originally founded in Switzerland in 1937 and has grown to become one of the world’s most renowned manufacturers of luxury watches.
