Luxury in Paris at the Shangri-La

Glamorous and historic, the magnificent Shangri-La Hotel Paris is the place to stay when visiting the romantic City of Lights. Baroque Travel stops over to find out what makes it so special

Yes, Napoleon Bonaparte’s grand-nephew, Prince Roland, lived there – and it’s listed in the French ‘Monuments Historiques’. And guests who visit this sumptuous establishment are given the Royal treatment, too. The exquisite Shangri-La Paris Hotel offers breathtaking views of the city of Paris, including its landmarks, the impressive Eiffel Tower and the stunning River Seine. Decorated in the style of old-world elegance, this plush hotel is a fine retreat from the bustle of the city, offering an opportunity to be pampered while savoring its many sights and delights.

Located in the heart of the city, across the Seine, facing the Eiffel Tower and around the corner from the Champs Elysees and exclusive fashion designer stores on Avenue Montaigne and Avenue George V, this luxury hotel offers a choice of 101 spacious rooms including 36 suites, all recently renovated to create an interior style that is both luxurious and minimalist. Aside from the hotel’s signature suites, which are individually decorated, the rest of the accommodation is in hues of blue, white and ecru in a perfect blend of textures and colors including wallpaper that is threaded with silk, textured wall panels and refined crystal hardware.

Rooms feature complimentary Wi-Fi, flat-screen TV with in-house movie channels, iPod dock and Bulgari White Tea toiletry products. Furniture is all custom-made with crystal finishes. En suite marble bathrooms all boast heated floors, a separate bathtub and rainfall shower, double sinks and a flat-screen TV. Some of the rooms offer spectacular views of the Eiffel Tower from the bathtub.

The hotel features three restaurants, two of which – the French gastronomic restaurant, L’Abeille and Chinese restaurant Le Shang Palace – both boasting Michelin Stars (two for L’Abeille, one for Le Shang Palace). These are overseen by Michelin-starred chef Christophe Moret and provide either French or Asian cuisine. The third, La Bauhinia, features a stunning glass cupola and Murano chandelier and offers a menu full of elegant dishes. Le Bar Botaniste offers rare botanical spirits as well as a wide selection of cocktails and liquors including its signature cocktail, the Pink Lady. There’s also an indoor swimming pool and state-of-the-art spa with hammam, a fitness room and a billiard room.
