The first eco-friendly megayacht in the world was launched last weekend. Baroque Yachts has all the information on the brand new, innovative Savannah, launched by Feadship on Sunday 25 January
Finally we have a ‘green’ option in the luxury yacht category – Feadship’s latest offering, which was launched on Sunday, January 25, is a magnificent mega yacht hybrid called Savannah, the first of its kind in the world. Based in the Netherlands, Feadship has long been renowned for its superior quality yachts, but now the company has created a carbon-friendly option for those who can afford to purchase a super-luxury yacht and wish to save the planet at the same time.
Of course, this 273-foot vessel is still bespoke, and it has all the plush facilities of a superyacht; it’s five stories high, with massive decks and a stunning 9m swimming pool. But under the hull is another story altogether, an advanced fuel-efficient power system that includes only one diesel engine as opposed to the regular two, immense batteries and three diesel-electric generators. Along with the advanced design of the ship, these power systems are said to be extremely cost effective.
Feadship has designed the ship so that it can use different power modes. The electric mode is used on shorter and midrange journeys, while diesel takes over for longer trips. When the yacht travels at higher speeds, a combination of generators and diesel is used, and for very high speeds of 19 knots, all three systems are utilized.
It took four years to build this innovative superyacht and apparently more than 1,000 people worked on the project. The result is a magnificent, plush vessel with an underwater lounge where one can watch fish swim by through large windows, which transforms into a cinema, four spacious guest suites, the owner’s immense stateroom and a VIP stateroom with its own balcony. There are also facilities for 26 crew members.
Savannah will be available for exclusive charter, so if you’d like to charter your very own green superyacht, contact firstname.lastname@example.org right away.
