Private UAE-based luxury property developers Omniyat have joined forces with the luxury Dorchester Collection, which manages the legendary Dorchester in London, amongst others, to launch a hotel of the same caliber in Dubai. This property will be Dorchester’s very first establishment in the Middle East and Asia. The project will be officially launched in March 2018, but no details are available yet as to when the hotel will be completed. At the official launch, which will be an exclusive gala event, the project’s official name and its design will be revealed.

Omniyat has numerous prestigious estates in its portfolio, all located along the upmarket Dubai Canal, one of the city’s most famous attractions, which opened in 2017. The hotel will cover a vast 12km waterfront promenade and will apparently feature floating villas, a floating restaurant, pier and marina. It’s certainly going to be plush, and something to look forward to.

Many of Omniyat’s Dubai projects are results of partnerships with international brands. They include The One by Omniyat on Dubai’s iconic Palm Jumeirah, and the legendary Opus building, designed by late architect Zaha Hadid. Other partnerships include one with ME by Melia at the Opus building and another venture with The Langham group, a hotel of the same name in Dubai’s Business Bay.

The Dorchester in London is quite iconic, a unique establishment that hosts celebrity guests on a regular basis. It’s known for its doormen in fancy uniforms and lavish afternoon teas, sumptuous accommodation and luxury transportation in the hotel’s Rolls Royce cars.

The new establishment will be located on the banks of the famous Dubai Canal, and will include a plush hotel as well as luxury residences. Dorchester’s distinct style of hospitality has already become legendary in its hotels around the world, which include the Hotel Plaza Athenee in Paris, Hotel Eden in Rome, plus the legendary Beverly Hills Hotel and the Hotel Bel-Air, both in Los Angeles.

The Dorchester in London is a hard act to follow, with regular guests including the likes of Oprah Winfrey, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip, as well as Sir Elton John and Lady Gaga. Dubai’s new Dorchester is likely to follow suit, offering those who love English tradition a place to stay in this exciting desert city.

The new Dorchester establishment in Dubai may be the brand’s first foray into the Middle East, but plans are already underway for further projects in the region in the future. As can be expected, the new Dorchester Dubai hotel will be sumptuous, opulent and offer every luxury. There will, of course, no doubt be an exquisite swimming pool, not to mention a luxurious Presidential Suite, and the Dorchester’s trademark Imperial Suite. Word has it that an Alain Ducasse fine dining restaurant will also be located on the premises.

Iconic luxury hotel to open in Dubai 2018

Dubai’s skyline shifts daily, but the latest addition is quite unique – it’s the Opus building, inside of which will be luxury hotel, ME by Melia. Baroque Travel finds out all the details

ME Dubai2.jpg

The extraordinary, unique 95-meter high Opus building that will open in late 2018 in Dubai was designed by acclaimed architect, the late Dame Zaha Hadid, in partnership with luxury Middle East developer Omniyat. The hotel inside is owned by Spanish luxury lifestyle brand ME by Melia, and will be the first ME by Melia property to open in the Middle East.

ME Dubai Atrium.jpg

Located in the city’s Burj Khalifa district, in upmarket, up-and-coming Downtown Dubai, the hotel will feature 93 guest rooms and suites situated on 19 floors, including the ultra-luxurious Suite ME plus 98 serviced apartments that include four penthouses, each with its own private roof terrace.

The hotel will also offer no less than 15 restaurants, including the contemporary Japanese robotayaki restaurant, ROKA. This restaurant brand was founded in London in 2004 by Rainer Becker, following the incredible success of their restaurant Zuma, also in London. This acclaimed restaurant is known for many iconic dishes, such as yellowtail sashimi with yuzu-truffle dressing, which guests will enjoy in the new Dubai branch. Aside from food from the robata, the menu will include exquisitely prepared sushi and sashimi.

ME Dubai4.jpg

The hotel lobby, vertical café, lounges and reception area will all be filled with signature furniture either designed by Zaha Hadid, or personally selected by her. In fact, this exceptional hotel is the only hotel project where Zaha Hadid personally designed every single interior and exterior, and the eye-catching result showcases her vision of ‘interconnectedness’ in the best way possible.

Choosing Zaha Hadid’s vision for the hotel was a coup. According to Mahdi Amjad, Omniyat chairman and CEO, “The architectural wonder of The Opus requires a hotel partner that can resonate with its design and lifestyle appeal.” The design of this exquisite hotel will certainly achieve that. The ME by Melia hotels already located in Miami, Milan, Mallorca, Madrid, London and Cabo are further proof.

The entire Opus building spans 250,000 square feet, and is made up of two separate towers that connect in the form of a cube with a central space where the building offers unexpected and quite dramatic views of its interior. The hotel itself follows ME by Melia’s philosophy of offering culture-seeking guests the ultimate in luxury experiences.

One of the signature touches of any ME by Melia hotel is attention to detail when it comes to service. Each guest staying in one of their hotels is looked after by a dedicated Aura Manager, who offers a bespoke, superlative level of service.

Luxury in Dubai - the Armani Hotel you need to visit

Defining luxury is hard enough, but when it comes to choosing the best of the best luxury hotels, the criteria aren’t what you’d expect. Baroque Travel takes a look at the hotel that has just won this accolade

So, which hotel in the world has been voted the most luxurious for 2016? And what makes it so special? According to Anton Perold, MD of the World Luxury Hotel Awards, one doesn’t define luxury by the amount of gold leaf in the décor, or the fancy amenities that are likely to impress a guest, such as a personalized private jet, 24-hour butler or a gourmet chef on duty if you get hungry at 3am. Instead, when deciding what is the most luxurious hotel in the world, they looked at superlative service, a team of staff that works together to ensure that every one of their guests’ wishes are granted. It’s as simple as that.

The focus for the World Luxury Hotel Awards takes a different focus every year, in keeping with trends. And, the World Luxury Hotel Awards, which has decided the best of the best for the past decade, chose uniqueness, elegance and style as well as superlative service for this year’s award. And the winner is… the magnificent, extravagant Armani Hotel Dubai.

This isn’t a new hotel. It’s been open since 2010, pampering guests with its inimitable sense of charm and style. The hotel boasts 10 floors – the first eight floors and levels 38 and 39 of the 163-floor Burj Khalifa. It offers 160 guest rooms and suites, all decorated by fashion designer Giorgio Armani. In fact, this was the first of two hotels under the Armani label – the other one is in Milan.

The Dubai establishment set the standard for Armani Hotel Milan, offering all the signature Armani details such as stone floors, zebrawood panels and bespoke furniture. The result is a tasteful mix of simplicity and elegance. But it’s not only the interior of the hotel that makes it so very special. It also boasts an idyllic location.  Located at the famous Burj Khalifa, the tallest tower on earth, in downtown Dubai, it is the ideal base from which to explore the city’s best shops, sights and restaurants. And let’s not forget the breathtaking views.

Of course, Armani Hotel Dubai has everything a pampered guest would expect of such a luxurious hotel. There are stunning restaurants, a deluxe spa and a sense of Armani chic wherever you look. But what made The World Travel Awards choose this hotel as the winner for 2016 is its warm, hospitable Italian style of service.

Let’s give you an example. On arrival at this plush establishment, every guest is assigned his or her own personal Lifestyle Manager, whose task it is to manage every single aspect of their stay, from babysitting services, to restaurant bookings, and anything else they may desire. It’s that personal touch, that home-from-home feel while still offering a superlative offering that is what makes Armani Hotel Dubai a winner.

There’s no pomp and splendor involved in this personalized service offering; it’s completely understated, genuine and relaxed. Something that is not easy to achieve, but that the hotel and its staff has managed to do with aplomb.

And, as it does every year, the World Luxury Hotel Awards not only pinpoints the current trends, but also offers an idea of what everybody else should be aspiring to in the hospitality industry.

Dubai hotel to open in 2019 with its own rainforest

Dubai is known for its innovative and unusual buildings, and the latest on the cards is no exception. The $550 million Rosemont Hotel &B Residence, due to open in the city in 2019, will boast its own rainforest! Baroque Travel has all the details

Just when we thought they had done it all in Dubai – from ski slopes to a building reaching for the moon and artificial islands – someone has done one better. Currently being built is a hotel attached to a rainforest. In the desert! Yes, the Rosemont Hotel & Residence, which is currently being built in Dubai, will have one that will be 75,000-square-foot in size – and much more. Aside from the opportunity to explore a tropical paradise, guests at this luxury hotel will also enjoy an indoor beach, a stream, trees and a special adventure play area for the kids. But that’s not all. There’s also a spa, bowling alley, theater, trampoline, splash pool, health club, sky pool and numerous restaurants to service the 450 guest rooms and 280 serviced apartments in the building. If that’s not enough of an adventure, both the skydiving and bowling alley will be experienced in a simulator, creating a very unique and surreal experience.

The hotel, which will operate under the Hilton’s Curio brand, will comprise two towers, each 13,000 square feet high. Located on Sheikh Zayed Road, it will be set in the center of the city’s famous stretch of highway. The development is already under construction and it’s estimated that the hotel will open its doors in 2019. Each of the two towers will feature 53 storeys, and the rainforest will join the two towers on level five, offering guests a fully immersive experience of being in the jungle. The air will be misted using a special sensory system that will give the effect of being in a traditional rainforest in the middle of the desert without actually getting wet.

Of course, there’s more. You can’t have a rainforest without being able to zip line through it. So, visitors will also be able to go on a thrilling zip line ride, flying through the rainforest strapped into a harness and attached to a cable wire.

The hotel itself will be a sight to behold. Set against Dubai’s ever-changing skyline, the architecture will add to the city’s contemporary, ultra-modern feel. The entire design was inspired by a flowing river with lights shaping its dynamic form.
