You see that private jet flying above you? There’s a 70% likelihood it’s heading to or from New York City!
According to Knight Frank’s Wealth Report two years ago, seven out of every 10 private jets travel to or from the Big Apple. And while that data may be two years old, not much has changed, according to Netjets, a UK-based private plane charter company that is a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway. In fact, the only difference in the data is that relating to Russia. Since the crisis with Ukraine, not many private jets are traveling to or from Moscow these days – and a very popular route in 2013 was between Russia and France’s Cote d’Azur.
Much like two years ago, most private jets travel between the US and either Europe or the Middle East. In fact, in 2013, 60% of private jets traveled to or from either New York, Palm Beach or Miami. Other popular routes included London, the south of France and Moscow.
The fastest growing route at that time included jets traveling from the south of France, specifically the Cote d’Azure, to New York. This was apparently because so many Russian business owners owned properties in the south of France, and also frequently traveled to the US for business. Other popular routes included from Venezuela’s Maiquetia to Miami and Dubai to London. Another popular location is Houston, Texas, but this is usually for business, not pleasure.
Much like in 2013, other popular locations are holiday destinations such as Ibiza in Spain during the summer months and Verbier, St Moritz and Courchevel in the winter for skiing. Island resorts such as the Maldives and the Seychelles were also very popular with holiday makers.
The popularity of traveling by private jet has increased over the years, because of the many advantages. Often, booking a flight on a commercial airline at the last minute can be very expensive – and if there are a number of business people traveling together to one location, it can be cheaper to hire a private jet than fly commercial.
In addition, superior food, exceptional service and every comfort are other reasons to travel on a luxury private jet charter. Your time is your own, so you can arrange flights to suit your schedule, and if up to eight people are traveling together, this type of travel becomes great value for money, too.
According to Forbes Magazine, there are other advantages to chartering your own private jet: while commercial flights fly to and from 550 airports in the United States, private jets use a network of over 5,000 airports in the country.
