2014 FORMULA 1 ETIHAD AIRWAYS ABU DHABI GRAND PRIX

On November 21 of this year, a swarm of single-seat autoracers will be aggressively barreling down the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi, hugging each curve with their charcoal black tires and screaming shrilly as their drivers compete for Formula One’s coveted prizes.  For some, there will be more thrills a minute here than anywhere else. So if the prospect of watching sleek lines of race cars explode into action and surge forward piques your interest, here is what you need to know.

When: November 21, 22, and 23 of 2014. It’s a Grand Prix Weekend.

Where: The Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi. It has a seating capacity of over 40,000 and a raceway length of 5.5 km (or about 3.4 miles).

The race: The Formula One racecars will officially begin racing on Sunday, November 23. Practice sessions will take place over the course of the previous two days, with the Qualifying race occurring after three practice sessions. A total of 55 laps will be raced on Sunday, starting at 17:00.

As twilight falls on the Yas Marina Circuit, colorful lights will illuminate the raceway, creating a particularly fascinating visual experience.

The cars: Meticulous engineering and careful planning goes into the design of a Formula One racer. Advanced composites consisting of carbon fiber provide a lightweight but exceptionally strong chassis. At around 1,500 pounds, these impressive technological feats will hurtle across the circuit at speeds of over 200 mph. 

You will see them pass by in front of you. There will be a sudden rush of wind and a colored streak, snaking ahead of the rest. These Formula One racecars have glamor, character. They are lithe, low, and fire on wheels.

Ticket Options: Take your pick from the incredible range of packages available, many of which include private air conditioned lounges, reserved outdoor seating, flat-screen TV's, unlimited non-alcoholic beverages and food including lunch and dinner perfect for the whole family or group of friends to enjoy this incredible event. A 3-Day weekend pass can be purchased, and will situate you at the covered South Grandstand’s South Club. This lovely spot will provide you with a panoramic view of the entire raceway. It’ll also give you complimentary access to the Yas Marina yachts. All Packages and ticket options are available to purchase for the whole weekend or just one day.

Special Events: There will be stirring after-race performances by some of the world’s leading artists. There will be 4 concerts over the course of 4 days, beginning on Thursday, November 20. Artists include Pharrell Williams, Tamer Hosny, Mohammed Assaf, Armin Van Buuren, Faiz Al Saeed, Carole Samaha, and The Who.

This world-class entertainment will be provided to all Formula One ticketholders.

Where to Stay: There is a panoply of delightful and luxurious hotels near the Yas Marina Circuit. The legendary Yas Viceroy Hotel affords a magnificent view of the circuit, and the racecars roar beneath it. The Yas Trackside Terrace and Yas Marina Bay Suite are also excellent locations for watching the Formula One race while enjoying an exclusive leisure experience.
