The Santander 2015 Spanish Formula One Grand Prix

The Spanish Grand Prix, held at the Montmelo track just 30 minutes north of the sophisticated city of Barcelona, is scheduled to take place May 8-10, 2015. Presenting a variety of seating options, there will be VIP options that offer a luxury experience both at the racetrack and around the city. The Gran Premio de Espana, the Spanish Grand Prix, coincides this year with the biennial International Motor Show, May 9 through 17, at the Montjuïc Exhibition Centre in Barcelona.

The track at Montmelo has hosted the Grand Prix race for Barcelona since 1991, although racing has been taking place here since the Catalan Cup on the roads around Sitges as early as 1908. With modifications made to perfect the chicanes and improve safety at Montmelo, this championship venue has become a favorite of the European crowd, enhanced by Fernando Alonso’s winning streak. The course has 16 corners, long straight stretches, and  a 4.655 km lap, with the record held at 1 minute, 21.67 seconds.

Paddock Club tickets provide posh seating with privileged viewing locations, access to the pit area, morning tea and pastries, gourmet lunches, drink services, and entertainment. On Thursday, May 7, there will be a pit lane walk with celebrations afterward. Friday, May 8, will be a practice day. Saturday, May 9, will see the qualifying races, while the race itself takes place on Sunday, May 10.

The International Motor Show, open until 8 p.m. during the week, and 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, will feature displays from a number of luxury motorcar companies, including Aston Martin, Bentley, BMW, Ferrari, Jaguar, Lotus, Maserati, and Mercedes Benz. A wonderful selection of small cars, from Abart, Fiat, Mini, Smart, and PGO, will be joined by American brands Jeep and Ford, as well as a host of additional favorites.

Friday, May 8, will be a Professional Day, with the remainder of the event dedicated to showing off the brands, the connectivity, the urban mobility, and the design sectors of the industry in themed areas of the convention hall.

Barcelona, and the races at Montmelo, continue to attract an international audience that thoroughly enjoys the privilege of attending the opening race of the Grand Prix racing season in Europe.
