These days, Dubai is constantly transforming itself and evolving to become the most desired travel destination. NEW DESIGNER HOTEL OPENS IN DUBAI
The second luxurious designer Versace hotel recently opened in Dubai – the first, The Palazzo Versace Gold Coast, opened in Queensland, Australia in 2000. This one, called the Palazzo Versace Hotel, boasts 215 stunning rooms including 65 sumptuous suites. All the ceilings have gold hand-crafted details and the magnificent 10,800 square-foot lobby features an exquisite marble mosaic floor. The hotel also includes a stunning spa, gourmet restaurant and 169 residences, each offering between one to six bedrooms.
The magnificent interiors of the hotel and its furniture were designed by Donatella Versace and guests will notice classic Versace designs as well, including the Medusa head and the Greek Key along with new motifs.
NEW OPERA HOUSE DESTINED FOR DUBAI
This exciting city is soon to add opera to its list of cultural experiences. Plans are currently under way to open Dubai’s own iconic Opera House, which will be located in its own Opera District in downtown Dubai. The new structure, which will be designed by Atkins, one of the most respected design, engineering and project consultancies in the world, will resemble a traditional sailing vessel; the ‘bow’ of the building will be where the opera’s main stage will be located, as well as seating and the orchestra, while the ‘hull’ of the building will be home to waiting areas, parking and a taxi drop-off zone.
This exciting new modern venue will be used not only for opera; it will also host theater, concerts, art exhibitions, orchestra performances, film, sports events and seasonal programs.
SKI SLOPE IN THE DESERT
Sport is also a major activity in Dubai, and once the largest ski slope in the world is built in the city, another major pastime will be added to the range of activities on offer. The ski slope will be part of an immense new 350-room hotel, residential, shopping centre with over 300 restaurants and cafes and a 100-berth marina complex and yacht club that is to be built, which will also boast the tallest residential structure in the world at 711m as well as the largest dancing fountain.
This project, called Meydan One Project, is estimated to cost in the region of $6.8 billion, and the 1.2km ski slope, which will be open throughout the year, will take center stage. It’s believed the project will extend from Dubai’s Meydan racetrack to Burj Khalifa, the city’s highest tower and the highest on earth. The first phase of this immense project is expected to be completed by 2020 in time for the World Expo 2020, which is being hosted by the UAE.
