September is yacht month, starting with the fabulous Cannes Yachting Festival, which, this year, celebrates its 40th anniversary. Baroque Access finds out all about this highlight in the international yachting calendar
For the past 40 years, the Cannes Yachting Festival has been a highlight of the social calendar on the French Riviera, and this year, from 12 to 17 September, will be no exception. The resort will be celebrating the 40th anniversary of this auspicious 6-day event that takes place in Cannes’ sparkling bay in two exceptional marinas, Vieux Port (the old port) and Port Pierre Canto as well as at the Palais des Festivals, located at either end of the famous Croisette in Cannes, the ideal location for hosting an event of such magnitude.
The Cannes Yachting Festival has grown over the years to become one of the leading in-water boat shows in Europe, with more than 550 boats expected to be on display including over 100 world premiere editions. Last year, 50,000 visitors attended, and it is expected that there will be even more in 2017.
In 2016, the festival included La Terrasse for the first time, an area that was solely dedicated to luxury brands. This year, the event includes a Luxury Gallery to include those premium brands associated with the world of yachting, such as cars, watches, jewelry, aviation, property, gourmet food, fashion, décor and design, photography and art, hotels, high-tech products and upmarket services. Brands expected to showcase their wares include Porsche, Interni SPA, Tiber, Marc Alexandre and many more.
In addition, the Yachting Festival will feature a number of special events. Along the quays and pontoons in Cannes, visitors who include yacht owners and prospective buyers will discover the finest vessels available from shipyards around the world. The Festival brings together key players in pleasure boating and international luxury yachting, including exhibitors who have come to showcase their new vessels, products and services. Throughout the festival, various shipyards will offer visitors a trip out to sea so that they can see first-hand what it’s like to sail on the finest yachts in the world. This is how buyers make their final choice before purchasing a super yacht.
The show is open daily from 10am to 7pm (it closes at 6pm on Sunday 17 September). If you are interested in any further information, let Baroque Access assist.
